What do you use, for under $50?

Most built-in PC headset/laptop/phone mics suck and I hear a totally different voice compared to what my ears hear in real life. Will a good mic fix that?

Your voice on a recording will ALWAYS sound different than it does to you live.

Note, the only one I've ever had any experience with is the Beyerdynamic Fox...and that was very limited, not enough to make a recommendation one way or the other.
(you can't pay me enough to want to listen to my own voice on a recording...it always sounds so dead and flat.)

I use a Blue snowball ice with a foam cover. It works well, I have been using nearly daily for 8 years now. You can pick it up for $49.99

When i switched to this mic, my voice came through more clear and robust. Made a big difference compared to all the cheap headset mics I have used.
