Decent used phone for tmobile?

Done with my VZ contract and want to try tmobile for a bit. I have a rooted note 2 but it doesn't seem easy to convert to tmobile.. or not without issues anyways. So what is a decent used phone that has wifi calling? Just get another note 2? Anything else to look at in the $200 range? Thanks!

I did the 1 week trial with iPhone but looking for a longer evaluation period.

Any T-Mobile phone should work. I'm not sure, but last year's flagship might be around $200 by now. HTC One M7, Galaxy S4, etc.

Do you know if T-Mobile has band 12 holdings in your area? (Eg certain parts of dc/long island has band 12 deployed unofficially)

If so, you might want to go for the zte zmax (720p phablet) or galaxy avant, both with band 12 and wifi calling... No volte though on the zte(avant has volte), both regularly go on sale under $200 new

I would suggest going to swappa.com and having a look. I used that site to get all the phones my family uses with Ting, and they all work great. I've been happy with Ting, but it works best for multiple phones and not heavy data usage. Our average bill is $60 mo for 4 phones.
The SG III is a nice phone that can be had for around $100.

the stock seems kinda low now (probably because of the season) but you can find Apple and Samsung smartphones for different carriers or ones that are unlocked. There is a 30 day return policy as well.

If you're looking for android then the S4s are starting at $259 but the S3s are well under $200

Since other people have all made good suggestions for used phones, the only suggestions for new phones in that price range would be the Moto G and the Lumia 635.

If you are just evaluating get a Lumia 635, you can evaluate T-Mobile and windowsphone at the same time.

Because tmobile doesn't subsidize their phones and your bill goes down once you pay off the phone if you financed.

That and T-mobile versions usually have unlocked bootloaders and all 3G/LTE bands available. So if you unlock it, it is more valuable. The ATT versions usually have AWS disabled, bootloader locked, etc.

Thanks for the help, I grabbed a Nokia 635 because it was a new phone for $90, can't beat that. It seems fine for the price, I just wish it had a better camera. Windows Mobile 8.1 is ok, seems fine for my basic use. I just wish I could install an ad blocker, I think it makes mobile browsing lag without it.

I couldn't justify spending $250 for a used S4. I will likely upgrade to something with a better camera down the road if I stick with T-Mobile.

What Verizon phone are you using now? If it is an iPhone 5C or 5S; you can use it on any GSM carrier network in the U.S.

Otherwise; I get the WP Lumia 635 $129 or the Central America 735 - RM-1039 model!
