So how would something like that do against a classic English Longbow?

Yeah, I'd rather have a classic bow and develop my strength rather than relying upon such a fiddly contraption (no offense).

If you are actually using it for hunting then the letoff of a compound is nice for lining up a cleaner kill.

Sounds like you went to a knowledgeable place to buy. Looks like fun, I haven't shot a bow since I was 12.

I would take it up, but down here in GA the season starts sept. 8 and it's still in the 90's. It bad enough that rifle season starts toward the latter part of october when its high 70s to mid 80s.

Yep. Can't wait to get out bowhunting this October. Hopefully, this is the year I get that 400 pound black bear.

I mean compound bows are pretty crazy, but I just hate how they look with all the pulleys and stuff.
Scout bows are simple and sleek looking

A year ago I've been wanting to get into archery, but I just keep finding other things to spend money on :-(

Nice looking rig. If you do plan to hunt with it, make sure that at least some of your practice time includes real life scenarios. In other words, if you will be stand hunting in the winter, get in your stand geared up like you will be then. There is a big difference in being able to hit the shot when you are standing on the ground in shorts and a tshirt practicing and makeing it when you are up a tree bundled up like the StayPuff marshmallow man.

I plan on archery hunting next year, yeah.

I got rifle tags this year (it is a lottery in Oregon), but since I got both Elk and Deer tags this year, I probably will not get any next year (maybe just being pessimistic, but normally I get deer one year, elk the next, then deer......etc.). If I do not draw tags next year I will definitely bow hunt for deer and elk.

There is no winter deer or elk bow season in Oregon, the dates are Aug. 25th to Sept. 23 for both. I dont think dressing up with winter gear is going to be something I will need to practice

I've been bowhunting for about 15 years. Still shoot my original PSE. Last year was the first in at least a dozen I didn't get a buck. My daughter, however, shot her first last fall (@ ten years old).

I was really good at Archery back in the Boy Scouts with the good o' Recurve bows. Won a few ribbons and such at camp. I'd love to still do it if I had the equipment but can't afford to go buy anything right now. It's a great hobby because once you ave your stuff, it's free unless you break something. Lots of places have outdoor archery ranges you can use at county parks and things like that.
