that is a bit inappropriate. they are two separate forums and many people do not look at both forums. people that belong to multiple forums have a right to post in each of them.

I am not saying his topic isn't a bit silly but posting on multiple forums in general should be of no concern or worry to you.

Ya, at worst it might mean some kind of agenda, but whatever. Perhaps it's the seasonal lack of sunlight, seasonal stress, or maybe too much Nog, whatever is the cause I hope the OP finds his way through it.

hardOCP is a different forum and there is no rule against cross posting in multiple forums.

Thanks, I know that. What I meant was the rather monumental redacted up of canceling the 6950 delivery when it was only a few miles and one day away.

Not one of my better moments. I feel a little better though. I got to go up with a friend for a short flight over Cook Inlet this morning. It is beautiful here. Cold, but beautiful.

No profanity on the technical forums please.

I no longer partake of Nog. But I very much appreciate the kind sentiments.

FUWUTI wasn't what happened. Hell, it probably would have prevented it...

And you think Nvidia doesn't have their own recurring issues with games?

So if AMD released fewer drivers you'd be happier? Personally, I like the fact that they're releasing fixes as soon as they complete them. It's better than waiting a month or more if there's a particular game or app you want to run (and can't) due to a driver issue.

Better scaling with Crossfire than SLI, higher price/performance ratios, lower power consumption at both idle and while under load.

You're kidding, right? That's an issue worth mentioning?

I update my AMD cards only periodically and haven't had any problems whatsoever. Yes, the 6900 series is new and will probably have more issues and driver updates than older series of cards. But that's normal. Nvidia is going through their own teething stage as well with their GTX 500 series.

And as I said above, I've been running the same AMD driver for months now as well. No issues to speak of.

Pretty clear to whom? From what I've seen, the ratio is pretty much 50-50 between dissatisfied Nvidia and AMD video card owners. Unfortunately, there are some people who keep believing the "ATi/AMD can't make good drivers" rhetoric from experiences people had years ago.

If AMD drivers were honestly that much worse than Nvidia's, don't you think it would have been pointed out during recent reviews?

Sounds like a bunch of yelling. You totally ignored my ownership of over six AMD cards this year. This isn't some part of my imagination. I stated my experience and others around the web. Saying Nvidia has problems too doesn't cancel out the habitual problems AMD continue to have.

You're probably running the same old driver for months because you know that the newer ones suck.
I was forced to use the 10.4-5 drivers for months too, they're great right? lol

Maybe it's the numerous hotfixes. It's bad enough to have to install a new driver every month, but every week or more. Didn't a recent driver need 5 hotfixes.

Ooooor, you could get a nvidia card and wait... oh so patiently... for MONTHS while they spit out a dozen beta driver releases but no official releases during that timeframe. :whiste:

Personally, I'd rather take a manufacturer that tries to support its customers, thanks.

If a driver version is working fine.. why update? I usually update drivers if one of my games have massive performance gains..

why try to fix when something isn't broken?

What was the last straw.. that AMD released a driver?

I don't remember the last time I bought a high end video card that didn't require some sort of driver update, whether it was nv or daamit. in a new arch like 69x0 it's even more likely, and there will probably be more updates than usual for months on those cards. if it's too hard to click a couple links/buttons then nvidia is definitely the only option.

So you had a change of heart and some guys here slap you for this and you end up apologizing? There's something wrong with this picture.

I say relax man, what you do and how you do it it's yours to decide. I wouldn't worry about how others feel about this whole thing.

Keysplayer once said IIRC that many here wouldn't open their mouth if together in the same room and he was right. This is all about immaturity and nothing else.

Good luck with your next card, whatever the choice you make!

Edit: Merry Christmas!

I had an unlimited account. The company out and out lied to me in order to get me away from the grandfathered unlimited account. After discussing their genetic limitations I suggested we see each other in Court. The result was a one year discount of $20 a month.

Aren't monopolies Capital?

Did this question ever get answered? I'm still trying to understand why the OP cancelled the order in the first place.

I screwed up, to put it mildly. If it weren't for the fact I no longer get loaded it could have been FUWUTTI.

I tried to undue it and get the card delivered but it was too late so they are going to send me another one.

Not Safe For Work.
It generally means nudity or outright porn.

It was a tiny copy of a nude painting of Palin that is hanging in a Chicago restaurant. Someone else has photoshopped it into that igloo with the Sat Dish I posted and I thought it apropos so I posted it myself.

I thought wrong.

Sounds like a bunch of yelling.
Who's yelling? I simply responded to your post.

You totally ignored my ownership of over six AMD cards this year.
I didn't ignore anything. My first ATi card was a Radeon 9700 and I've mostly purchased ATi ever since. I've had a couple of Nvidia cards thrown in there as well, but mostly ATi/AMD.

This isn't some part of my imagination. I stated my experience and others around the web. Saying Nvidia has problems too doesn't cancel out the habitual problems AMD continue to have.
No, it doesn't. But the way you were talking, Nvidia drivers are all sunshine and roses while AMD's are nothing but the fertilizer. Which is complete nonsense. Most people have had a good experience with AMD cards and drivers, myself included.

You're probably running the same old driver for months because you know that the newer ones suck.
I was forced to use the 10.4-5 drivers for months too, they're great right? lol
Oh, I see. So when Nvidia owners keep the same driver for months, it's because they don't need to update them. But when AMD owners keep the same drivers for months, it's only because the newer drivers suck? Nice double standard there.

Just last night I uninstalled my 4890 and its drivers. Stuck in my new 6850 and installed the latest drivers for it. And guess what? No problems with either the installation or the games I've tried so far.

Nvidia driver quality = AMD driver quality

IMO all current video cards are a rip-off compared to the GTX 460 which can be found for as low as ~$90. I would return a 6950 as well.
