Dedicated PhysX Card?

Basically what others said if you don't mind the extra cost for the card, extra cost for better power supply, extra noise for second card, extra fan or two, extra noise from bigger power supply and the extra heat it will generate in the room physics isn't useless just be realistic its not going to be a huge improvement in anything.

Which cards were you using and what games did you test?

980Ti as the primary, 650Ti as the Physx card. Game was Arkham Origins.

They didn't they al least tried but I believe their solution is far from ideal too.

they tried to push an open source alternative, but it failed to gain traction.

the thing with physx is that it's doing well and it's used by a lot of games (but running just on the CPU), GPU accelerated exclusive effects on the other hand, I think it's failing badly... if Nvidia made it work on OpenCL or something I think it would have more of a chance.

but also, GPU physics were being pushed primarily back on the previous gen of consoles when the gap between consoles and PCs was bigger, and no one was really targeting VR, 4K or 144Hz, perhaps now there is less spare time for the extra effects on the GPUs!?

Thought this post was from 2012 for a second. I tried using a 750TI as a physX card and it did help a little in certain games, but so few titles benefited from it that I simply took it out (every driver update it would default back to one of my 980TIs and sometimes I'd simply forget to set it back).
