We all know that number of passing yards means WAY more than wins.

They started out 0-5 and are now 7-7. He's had 3 or 4 4Q 2 minute drives for wins, including a 39 yard run in overtime.

Not to mention he has the Rookie QB NFL rushing record.

You're a prime example of why some people shouldn't post in sports threads.

There's going to be a good team in the AFC that deserves a wild card that won't get it this year. And wow on the NFC south, what the hell is going on. I still think Carolina will pull out of the slump but who knows when.

The Saints have been kicking some major ass. Thats whats going on

Yeh, and the QB rushing record is a joke too. Ask Mike Vick how many super bowl berths his legs have got him.

Not knocking Young's accomplishments, but the Titan defense has made some absolutely critical interceptions/plays to even set them up for the wins. It's not all Vince doing it.

I'm not saying the record means anything, but you have to take into consideration:

"Vince Young has run for 14 third-down conversions this season, third most in the league and first among quarterbacks."

VY is third overall for 3rd down conversions? I'd say his running has helped the team a good deal. The actual record doesn't mean much, but what he's accomplished while racking up those yards is important

Young has completed 63 percent of his passes in his past four games ? up from 46 percent in his first eight. His vision is getting better. He's still making stupid mistakes (like the INT against Jacksonville). But that'll get better with time.

It's the D's JOB to set up the team for wins. But VY (as a rookie) is capitalizing on those turnovers. That's what is important here. He's a rookie and learning the system. He didn't start the season, but the team has really turned around since he started and they feeding off his confidence and excitement.

It's hard to tell how he'll pan out right now. Next year will be a better gauge. Teams will have seen him and they'll focus more of their game plans around his strengths/weaknesses.

But I think it's wrong to compare him to Ryan Leaf. He's far ahead of where Ryan was at the same point.

One of his losses was a 1 point game to the Ravens. I really wish he'd won that. McNair had his day though

Mr. Salisbury agrees! http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/ivp/index?id=2696691

Michael Smith's column on ESPN pretty much sums it up with Vince this season:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=smith_michael&id=2703350

And while I agree that although it's not all Vince Young, he certainly has brought something to the Titans' round table that they didn't have at the beginning of the year. He makes everybody else around him play better by raising their confidence and mental toughness; it's very impressive what he's done with the team thus far, and you can see that by what his teammates say about him. You rarely see this kind of leadership out of a rookie QB. If you were to put any other QB in his situation, you'd be hard pressed to say that the Titans can be where they are right now without VY.

The Titans are red hot, winning 5 straight, and now there's possible Play-off talk? It's still a long shot, but if VY can take them to the Playoffs by winning 7 straight games, watch out, NFL.

It's highly unlikely they'll make the playoffs. They have to win out and then hope other teams lose two straight.

Yeah that's where I grabbed some of those stats. I read that article earlier this morning. Good stuff.

I was really unhappy when the Titans drafted Vince. Personally, I wanted Jay Cutler (hometown boy!).

I want/wanted a natural drop back passer with a strong arm. I think Jay will be awesome in the future.

VY has looked good at times though and I'm just glad we are winning some games. It was dreadful starting 0-5!

Yeah, USA Today has an article comparing this year's draft of QBs to that of 1983 with Elway, Marino, and Kelly all in the same draft. I think it's a little premature to compare these rookies to those names, but there definitely is potential.

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/2006-12-19-rookie-qbs-focus_x.htm

I think all three QBs will be great in the very near future, so it's an exciting time to be an NFL fan. And you heard it here first - I predict Vince Young will be in the Hall of Fame.

He definitely has a HoF name. Matt Leinart just don't roll off the tongue as well.

He was dead wrong on the vast majority of his predictions. As for the ones he was right about, well, even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Roy Williams caught the first two TDs, a great one that withstood replay and another with 2 seconds left in the first half. Mike Williams caught a 21-yarder that put Detroit ahead for good and Mike Furrey punctuated his TD by firing the football into a plastic Cowboys logo behind the end zone, knocking it off the wall and putting a crack in it.
Kind of sums it all up, doesn't it?

Zing!

Well on deekos defense, he did pick 4 for 6 right for both divisions.

Aside from the obvious choices like the Seahawks, Bears, Colts, and Chargers, I didn't see any accurate pick that he thought of himself.

His pick for the NFC East, which he talks about ALL the time, was dead wrong. He says about the Giants: "New York Giants - Tiki has to wear down some time". You'd think that by the last game of the season, Tiki would be worn down. He rushed for 230+ yards that game.

He picks the Eagles to finish dead last in the division, they won the division. The dude is absolutely clueless.

This was a tough year to pick teams. A lot of surprises...

He's a huge Eagles hater. He lives in Philly and he's bitter at all of the fans, so he picks against them.

Sorry, but any team that loses to Detroit doesn't deserve to be in the playoffs

I cant believe I just read that.

meh, I don't think he's an NFL quarterback, I think he's a slower vick. In my opinion, HUGE mistake bypassing Leinart/Cutler for Young.

Yeah, Young only went 8-5 as a rookie starter, breaking some records along the way. Huge mistake drafting him.

Yep, Titans missed the playoffs by one game. Had the Titans taken care of business at home against the Pats, the "outside help" did their part to help... SF beat DEN, KC beat JAX, and PIT beat CIN. All that was missing was the win against NE.

Doesn't matter, though... I'm still proud of what the Titans have done, especially after going 0-5. If you had told me at the start of this year (when we had Kerry freakin' Collins as the starting QB) that we'd go 8-8 in a rebuilding year, I'd have taken it. Didn't expect them to win 4 games all year.

Seahawks and colts were locks.

The bears many had concerns and of course many "experts" picked the vikings to give them a run this year.

The chargers were a lock at the start of the season?
OK there second best defensive player was SHOT and they were starting a first year starting QB. I am a HUGE charger fan and I was hoping for 11-5 and a wild card.

I thought the saints might finsih 9-7 IF everything went there way and as a big Brees fan I never thought with that team he would have a shot at MVP (without LT he is)

Everyone was picking the panthers and on paper they are the class of the NFC south (that is why we play the games)

The pick of the dolphin was understandible but Dante's knee just could not hold up.

The bengals are a team that I had looked at and thought they could really get it going but they did not early and that cost them (as did a poorous defense)

Dallas is still picked by SI to go the length.

Like I said numerous times before the season. Dallas 35-31 over the Pats.

Trey I'm real excited about next year. We have such a ridiculous amount of cap room that should allow us to bring in good enough players to make a nice playoff run next year. This does ride on the hope that VY won't have a soph slump next season.
