Yep, Titans missed the playoffs by one game. Had the Titans taken care of business at home against the Pats, the "outside help" did their part to help... SF beat DEN, KC beat JAX, and PIT beat CIN. All that was missing was the win against NE.

Doesn't matter, though... I'm still proud of what the Titans have done, especially after going 0-5. If you had told me at the start of this year (when we had Kerry freakin' Collins as the starting QB) that we'd go 8-8 in a rebuilding year, I'd have taken it. Didn't expect them to win 4 games all year.

Trey I'm real excited about next year. We have such a ridiculous amount of cap room that should allow us to bring in good enough players to make a nice playoff run next year. This does ride on the hope that VY won't have a soph slump next season.

40+ million, my friend! 2007's gonna be a great year, because we're finally out of Salary Cap Hell.

Definitely time to get VY some receiver help. Wouldn't hurt to have another solid safety. And can you imagine how dangerous VY would be with a BETTER O-line?!? Holy moly...

I liked your team before the Pats game. Talk about dirty- Mawae and Wade write the book.

This post is pretty ironic, considering Harrison is considered by the NFL players themselves to be the Dirtiest Player in the NFL.

According to the NFL, Wade's hit was legal. From ESPN:

The Boston Globe reported on Monday, however, that NFL director of offiating Mike Pereira has reviewed the play and deemed it legal.
...
The block happened near the Titans' sideline. Titans coach Jeff Fisher, co-chairman of the NFL's competition committee, didn't see the block but said it's permissible for a receiver to block low.

"I don't know what the issue was. It's unfortunate that Rodney did get hurt. I hope he's OK, but receivers block low all the time in this league," Fisher said.

Not sure what you're referring to regarding Mawae. In any case, whatever it was, it doesn't look like the NFL sees anything as dirty... not anything that a few yellow flags didn't fix.

I'll defend myself a little bit, cuz I've got nothing better to do.

Yea, some of them were wrong, most notably the Eagles and Dolphins (Daunte was hurt all year though, and my prediction cited him as the catalyst). Other than those two teams (and come on I have to pick against the Eagles, its my job), I nailed those two divisions. I picked the Chargers in the west, no one seemed to believe me on that one. I also took a lot of heat for putting the Steelers 3rd in the AFC North, where did they end up? I essentially got the AFC South and West, two teams were flipped in each division because of tie breakers, but close enough. Yea, Vince Young has done better than I expected him to, good for the Titans, but I still like Matt Leinart better, its a bit early to define their careers just yet. Yea, I got the Saints wrong, but I don't think ANYONE expected them to do what they've done. Got the other three teams in that division right.

whew. its been fun.

Figured it might be a good time to mention the whole Vince Young Offensive Rookie of the Year thing...

A lot of things go on that you never see on the TV. Every player in the NFL is dirty in some way.

And Trey, I hope the Titans do NOT get a receiver. There is no real reason behind this other than a Titans receiver curse much like the Madden curse. Every time we get a free agent receiver he gets hurt and doesn't play 90% of the season due to injury. Every single time. Hell, every time we get a 1st or 2nd round receiver the same thing happens (Dyson/Calico). I'm convinced that had we drafted Randy Moss instead of Dyson he would have been injured and no one would know his name.

When is it appropriate to call someone out on their predictions, before they are made?

How was I 100% wrong on the NFC East? Technically....you're right, no one was in the position I predicted, but the ONLY team I was actually wrong on was the Eagles. I predicted 1.cowboys 2.giants 3. redskins 4. eagles and it ended up 1. eagles 2. cowboys 3. giants 4. redskins. In reality I only had one team wrong. Ya know, if you were capable of reading the replies, you'd see that I already pointed this out.

Overall, like I said in the very first post, of course I got a few wrong...but overwhelmingly I did pretty well, and considering these were preseason predictions, that's not bad. Next year lets see YOU morons post YOUR predictions before the season starts and see how well you do.

edit: I also finished with 161 correct game picks, which is better than all but 1 of ESPN's analysts, who I tied.

Basically what I'm tryin to say is....screw you guys, I'm goin home.

How about next year you don't make predictions based on your fanboy opinions. Maybe just skip the NFC east or add a disclaimer "Deeko's picks are slanted for the cowboys who are straight nasty all around "

You wrote in your first post," Don't get your panties in a wad, if it makes you feel better you can rub it in my face if I'm wrong."
We are just doing what you told us to do

You see we wouldn't post predictions, because we're not conceited know-it-alls.

You didn't do overwhelmingly well. You got a bunch of obvious picks right, a few good guesses, and a few terrible guesses. Whoopdeefreakingdoo, they should hire you on the NFL N.

PS - the fact that your predicitions were based on the reasoning of "Tiki has to wear down sometime" or "hahahahahah...wait.... hahahaha" makes you just look like an ass.

Tiki didn't do as well as he did last year. Plus, this year I chose to write a half-sentence snippit on each team rather than a full explanation on half the teams like I did last year. Also, once again, if you employed the reading skills that most of us take for granted, I DID actually write something on the Eagles. Clearly, the "hahahah" thing was meant to make you whiney little Eagles fans cry, and clearly it succeeded.

As for your reasoning....no, you're wrong. Every football fan has their own ideas of how each team will do in an upcoming season, I am just willing to post mine because A) it amuses me to see how much what I think about a football team bothers people and B) by putting it down, I can't go back and change it like most people do after the season. Like I said, I had 3 big mistakes - The Eagles, where I'm obviously biased (but was also very wrong, I did expect them to fall off, and it did look like they were going to for over half the season), the Dolphins (and don't act like I'm the only person who thought they would do well, SI picked them to go to the Superbowl), and the Saints (no one expected them to do what they've done).

If my predictions were nothing special...again, first week of next September, lets see YOUR predictions. You won't do it because "you aren't a conceited know-it-all", but its really because you're afraid that you'll be horribly wrong, because you probably will be.

I'm certainly impressed with your picks, despite people's criticisms you did call as many games right as ESPN's professional analysts. My only question for you actually concerns the Dolphins - do you really think Daunte would have made that much of a difference had he been 100% healthy? It seems to me like the quality of his play in MN was boosted by having Moss there. He (Moss) basically served as a bailout for Daunte when nobody else was open because of his great jump-ball ability. Daunte has never really struck me as a great precision passer, so would he really have been able to carry the Dolphins into the playoffs?

Well, in Daunte's best statistical season, Moss was hurt for about 1/3 of the season. Also, while he's not Randy Moss, last year Chris Chambers certainly looked poised to have a big year, especially if they finally had a good QB. It was Ronnie Brown's second season, too. So, do I think Culpepper alone would have reversed them? No, because it was a combination of him, Chris Chambers having a bad year, and Ronnie Brown not progressing like everyone thought (which could have happened because of the first two). Their defense certainly looked solid, considering it housed the DMVP....things just didn't fall their way. Maybe next year.

and thanks for the support
