Sadly, graduating college and moving across the country to an unfamiliar city has put a dent in my binge drinking habits. indeed.

I'll take that last part as a compliment....haha

Chalk of course. Maybe knee sleeves - apparently some raw lifters use them, some don't, its really more a habit thing, they aren't supportive. Seeing as I haven't used them before, I don't really see a reason to start now, but my coach mentioned it on Saturday as a possibility. Other than that, nothing else is legal for raw lifting. Standard uniform is a tshirt + a singlet, something like this: http://www.inzernet.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=SINGLET

I'm considering doing an in-gear competition next, but we'll see how this one goes first.

Another random question: will you max anytime between now and the competition to know what numbers you'll be shooting for?

Yea. Next week I'm doing heavy work sets (lots of doubles and triples) in all 3 lifts. Week after that will be for gauging my lifts - you get 3 attempts at each lift, ideally your opener is something you know you can do (so like 365 or 375 for deadlift), 2nd attempt is where you think your max is, 3rd attempt you can use to either try that amount again if you missed, or go for something even higher if you hit your 2nd. So that week will be to determine my 1st and 2nd attempts. The final week will be "active recovery" - I'll lift up until Wednesday, but all very light stuff just to keep the muscles fresh.

Deadlifts today. THIS CLOSE to getting 400 on my last set. I got it to my knees - which to me usually means its up. My weak point is the bottom, so usually if the bar comes 2" off the floor it comes all the way. So close...fuck. This was after some work sets. I will be getting at least 405 in the meet, or I will be pretty pissed.

Did 385x1 the set before, that went up smooth & easy with good form (which is why we decided to push 400). The 400 was about as good as your form can be for a failed attempt at a PR...haha. It wasn't that bad actually. I probably could have broke down and "jerked" it up, but I wasn't about to do that. I just fought with it hard until I couldn't anymore.

The coach suggested we hit a new PR at 395 and save 400+ for the meet. Being the over zealous idiot that I am, I said no, we're pushing the 400 mark. In hindsight, I think I would have grinded the 395 out. Oh well.

Ok, after the past couple of workouts, we've set my first lifts. We're starting a little more conservative and getting more aggressive as the day goes on. Particularly with squat - we've changed my form twice in the past two months, so the confidence level isn't as high there - first two attempts will be very conservative, 3rd attempt we'll see how I'm feeling.

Squat: 275, 305, ?
Bench: 225, 240, ?
Deadlift: 365, 385, ?

(keep in mind the real numbers will be the kilo-plate equivalents)

I'm hoping for 340 squat, 265 bench, 405 deadlift on the 3rd attempts. However, even if I missed on all 3 of my 3rd attempts, the 2nd attempts alone would give me 2 state records (squat, total). 11 days!

One more day...they moved my time from 3pm to 9:45am. I'm entirely unhappy about that. This place is a good hour and a half drive, you have to weigh in early, etc. So I'll be up very early. I lift better later in the day. Oh well.

Wow, that start time blows. Would you be able to wake up for a mid-sleep meal or would that kill your chances of falling back asleep? I'd definitely eat something before bed. Have any casein?
