There's a very long thread over at obesebillfold, and I think dvdtalk, about how DDD increased their prices on many items when the 20% off deal started. They raised by various percentages but some items went up to well over double the price.

Slickone: You're right -- I checked Amazon, and the Millennium boxed sets are just a buck more there vs the price *after* the discount at DDD. Oh well, it's still a good deal.

edit: Check dvdpricesearch.com if you're not sure DDD has the best deal. Amazon was reported the lowest for the ones I got, and it was still less at DDD. So, the "discount" may be a gimmick, but you may come out ahead anyway.

Yeah I just ordered Firefly and it was $23 after 10% off. With 20% off it's now $26.87

I would appreciate feedback from people who've ordered from DDDVD before. I placed my first order with them early yesterday. I have yet to receive an order acknowledgment e-mail, however, and when I check order status, they say I don't have any open orders. Is this normal for them? They do have a disclaimer saying it may take 24 hours -- rather Mickey Mouse, IMO -- but well over 24 hours have passed without a peep. I'd suspect they aren't legitimate except I know a lot of people here mention them regularly.

Any experiences? Thanks.

Odd, I usually get conf e-mails pretty quickly. Never any hint of a problem for me, altho the free shipping does take quite a while.

Bowfinger - I'm hoping you used a CC to order with. Check that and see if it has been charged. Did you print out a copy of the page when you ordered? Just have to ask those, as I have never had a problem with DDD.

Yes, used CC, they have not charged it. Unfortunately, I did NOT print out the order. I've gotten used to companies sending confirmation e-mails reliably, so I rarely bother. Bad move.

Anyway, thanks for your feedback, and fbrdphreak's as well. I suspected this wasn't normal. Hopefully, it's a temporary glitch, and they'll get it fixed Monday.


Edit for DefDC below: finally showed after 36 hours or so, along with the confirmation e-mail. They were just reallllllly slow.

I just checked on an order that i recently placed and thought I saw the same thing. Double check to make sure there isn't one line of text for a "COMPLETED" order, which you should be able to click and receive details.

...and as people have said, you didn't miss much. Most items I bought with their 20% off were increased in price for the sale. Still managed to get 2-3 dollars off each one overall but it definitely wasn't a hot deal -- lukewarm at best.

Brand new Scrubs Season 2 for $20 is hot. Not everything is hot, but there was a hot deal for everyone there bucko
