Who else here gets excited when they see a deer? They've been very common around here for 20 years or so, but growing up I never saw them. They come into my yard every so often, and I'll go to the window to look at them. I have a hawk that hunts around here too, and I'll check him out. I'm a fan of raptors in general, and when I hear one in the sky, I usually stop what I'm doing until I find it.

On the subject of wildlife... I have a cricket in my kitchen somewhere, and HOLY SHIT IS IT LOUD!! I can't find where the damned thing is coming from. The sound comes from everywhere, and nowhere. I'll think I've zeroed in on the sound, and it's coming from somewhere else when I get close. It's not just chirps, but sustained stridulation like a cicada. I don't think I can take much more of him :^S

Only time I get excited is when they run in front of my car. I still pause and watch when they come into my FOV, but they are EXTREMELY common where I am at. I remember when I moved to North Carolina and saw what pass for deer there, same with the mule deer out west. The deer here are much larger.

I LOVE seeing wildlife of any kind; totally get excited like a little kid. Heck I still get excited when I see a horse or a cow, or even a dog. I love animals.

Always get excited and watch them.

I once locked eyes with a wolf on the side of the road, that was pretty freaking awesome.

However, I find zoos to be kind of boring.

Giant Lawn Rats, eating the garden and shitting everywhere. Bastards aren't even decent hood ornaments and the damn DMV get all pissed off if you put a cow catcher on your front bumper...

Closest thing to a wild dog I've seen(aside from fox) is a coyote. I was a little south of Baltimore, and it was in a wooded gore section of interstate highway. He got away from me pretty quick, but it was still cool.

Only time I get excited when I see a deer is when I know I've just been hit by one. Ya, that's right when I'VE been hit. I don't know what it is, but they love headbutting my fenders.

I see coyotes every now and then. Haven't seen a deer in decades... could go the rest of my life without seeing one quite frankly. Especially if I'm riding my motorcycle.

I've seen deer in zoos/farms and such but don't recall the last time I saw one in the wild. Come to think of it, I don't recall the last time I saw a moose either, and those are more common. I have seen a bear though, while walking in the bush. Always fun. They look so cuddly. I wish I woulds see squirrels more often though, I saw one in late winter but that's about it. By the time I got the peanuts out it was gone. They are so cuddly, but unlike bears, they wont try to rip my face off.

For the cricket, see if you can get your cat on that... always entertaining to watch a cat go after one of those. I brought one in the house once just to see what my cat would do. It was unharmed and I put it back outside lol. Cat was just so confused when that thing jumped.

Couple of years ago, in my bro's work van, we were hit. The van's bis as hell and a blind goat couldn't miss it. 4 or 5 deer come out of a field like they're racing us down the highway. One big doe slams into the side of the van, bounce off and continues off into the woods.

Excited? Yep, last Wednesday. 55MPH, doe crosses the road...where there's one....slowed down in time for the buck following her. Hate to ruin the mood with the grill of my Tacoma.

:^D

Assholes ate my okra plants last year.

Edit:
Pretty cool Olds. Are they mule deer, or something else?

Pretty sure those are Mulies - dark tails, and the buck's antlers are forked. Whitetail antlers have one main stalk with small points growing off of it.

There's a section of road around here that's like a shooting gallery with deer. You see tons of them standing on the side, and it seems like every other day there's a dead one on the road. I've never had any close calls through there, but I have on smaller back roads.

I always enjoy seeing wildlife. Had a deer about 20 yards from me tonight while I was out picking blackberries.

And, hopefully in a few days, I see a lot of squirrels. (Bag limit 6 per day = 3 dinners.) With luck, bow season = 2 deer in the freezer, with another 2 during shotgun/rifle season.

I used to live in a more rural area of PA and would see them pretty often. The local park was basically in my backyard and did an annual deer hunt for population control. I moved to a more urban area a few months ago and I haven't seen any since, unfortunately. I do remember that they used to eat EVERYTHING.

I would get excited, but I have never ever ever seen one in person! This makes me sort of sad because I think it is an experience everyone should have, but no such luck on my end.

I always see them on this road I take often in northeastern part of Philly. I live close to a park and they come out of the woods often. Funny how the road is a giant bend and they always sit right at the guard rail looking into the street. One day when I'm on my motorcycle I hope one doesn't hit me. It will probably be the first time a deer kills a pedestrian lol. More so I would fly off the bike and probably be hit by an oncoming car in the other side of that road. I shudder thinking about it. When I'm in the car I could care less but I stop and watch them for a bit.

I had/ have a cricket problem since I moved into my house. None of them seem to make any noise.

Also had ball bugs when I first moved in.
