I've got a couple fawns that are living on the edges of my property. See them every couple days. They are cute then.

Then they grow up to be roaming pests that eat every bit of landscaping they can reach.

But to answer the question, even though I loathe the friggen things, and I see them daily, I still call the kids over to the window every time they meander through the yard.

Deer suck, unless they're on the table. Then they're tasty, unless the person serving them is one of the folks who think you need to 'age' venison (blech).

Up here in Michigan, they are prolific beyond belief. I've had 6 accidents in 4 years, and it's SO common up here that the insurance folks don't even bat an eyelash, nor do they change your rates.

It's fun watching my golden/lab mix freak out when he sees one in the corn fields surrounding the house. The deer seem to know he has boundaries (electric fence) and I've seen them stop 20-30 feet away from the boundary and have a town hall meeting while he barks his head off.

although i know there are plenty deer around here, i rarely see them on the roads.

the frogs have been deafening for a few nights now. at least the mosquitoes have been almost non-existent this year.

I get excited when I see deer on my plate. Mmm venison.

My parents usually have 2-5 deer that graze through the yard nightly, they love the pear trees.

And I have a deer story for you. About a month ago I went outside to get the mail, and saw a 16 year old kid about a half a block away beating on something with a large stick in a field with tall weeds between some houses. I thought he was maybe hitting a pet or an ant hill or something, and figured I'd wander over there and see what it was when he wandered off and possibly do something about it. He finally walked away after whacking it at least 30 times, that I saw. I started to walk towards it and only took a few steps, and a small deer suddenly leaped up in the air and took off in the opposite direction. Poor thing. And the kid is an ADD idiot who has been vandalizing property nearby before, so I decided since the deer ran off, to drop it.

On the subject of frogs, I once decided to go walk down this nature trail but it was getting dark. Suddenly, 100's of toads/frogs (too dark to really tell difference) started coming out. I was trying to avoid stepping on them, but I also had to hurry up and get out of there before I run into a bear and startle it because it's dark. Pretty sure those squishy things I felt under my shoes were not rocks.

I hold them deerest. My parents have a house on the border of a forest, so I saw them a lot. One fawn was regularly sleeping behind our kitchen one whole winter.

I rarely see them and it's often in semidark situations or because they get illuminated by the car lights, so I always observe as long as I can.
Same with foxes and other small animals.

I've never seen a lynx out of the zoo, and never seen a wolf or a bear (actually a bear probably yes, in a zoo, but I don't remember).

I always see them on this road I take often in northeastern part of Philly. I live close to a park and they come out of the woods often. Funny how the road is a giant bend and they always sit right at the guard rail looking into the street. One day when I'm on my motorcycle I hope one doesn't hit me. It will probably be the first time a deer kills a pedestrian lol. More so I would fly off the bike and probably be hit by an oncoming car in the other side of that road. I shudder thinking about it. When I'm in the car I could care less but I stop and watch them for a bit.
yeah it's not unheard of. It's probably not a deadly accident anyway, unless you hit a wall or a car after flying.

Who else here gets excited when they see a deer? They've been very common around here for 20 years or so, but growing up I never saw them. They come into my yard every so often, and I'll go to the window to look at them. I have a hawk that hunts around here too, and I'll check him out. I'm a fan of raptors in general, and when I hear one in the sky, I usually stop what I'm doing until I find it.

On the subject of wildlife... I have a cricket in my kitchen somewhere, and HOLY SHIT IS IT LOUD!! I can't find where the damned thing is coming from. The sound comes from everywhere, and nowhere. I'll think I've zeroed in on the sound, and it's coming from somewhere else when I get close. It's not just chirps, but sustained stridulation like a cicada. I don't think I can take much more of him :^S

Stridulatin' like a boss! It's probably two crickets on opposite sides of the kitchen messing with you.

Fuck deer. I put 2000 feet of 8' fencing around my property to keep them out. I saw more than 30 in my backyard at my pond one morning last winter.

They come through and clear-cut my flower beds and vegetable gardens. It's a shame I can only kill a few each year.

Around here there is plenty of wildlife. I was out on my bike when all of a sudden I was right next to a deer. It just looked at me and then ran off. Then while I was driving down the street a deer was in the middle of the road in our neighborhood. Last month we had a bear cub hanging out in a tree. Right across the street there were a few elk and then we have moose up in the mountains in a place called Red Feather. Colorado is full of wild life! I see it so much I don't even think twice about it.

I live on a dead end street that backs up to a large, forest-like park. We have so many deer around. The worst part is all their shit in my side yard, but they are cool to watch. I see them all the time when I walk my dog, he has learned to ignore them for the most part.

Sorry for crappy pics, my cell phone camera isn't the greatest...

One is in the sun just to the left of the tree, other is chilling across the street:

Blurry picture, but a mom and her fawn:
