You apparantly don't know much about software development - which is OK, you don't need to.

You can't just take a game and wave a magic wand and develop something exactly like it. GT4 had the advantage of years of play testing and refinements to the game engine.

I won't take sides on whether GT4 or Forza is better, because I'm not sure if I've played either. But it sounds to me like the games are comparable enough that to choose one console over the other based on which has which game is just blind loyalty to a particular franchise (a.k.a. fanboyism). At best I'd count that a minor factor in a console purchase decision, whereas the earlier games didn't really have any suitable counterpart.

If it was a different genre I wouldn't be saying that. Microsoft can't just put together an equivalent to the Final Fantasy series or the MGS series. Those games are story-driven. Racing games are not. Racing games compete on features (which is how GT blew everyone else out of the water) and realism/fun/whatever driving experience you want.

I'm still really pissed about the lack of a scaler. I want to love the PS3, but as of now, Resistance is the only thing I want to play on it.

I'm sure I'll have one by the time FFXIII comes out.

All I know is I really don't want a 360.

Do you mean a scaler for DVD play? And what is it about the 360 that you don't like?

Do you mean a scaler for DVD play? And what is it about the 360 that you don't like?

Scaler for anything on the PS3. Example: Resistance is 720p but if you have a TV that only supports 480p and 1080i, instead of bumping up to 1080i, the PS3 bumps you down to 480p.

and considering Xbox has had close to a year head start... it's not looking good for them in japan. Worldwide, only time will tell since PS3 just barely launched in europe and has only been out for a little more than a month in the US.

errr...PS3 hasn't launched at all in Europe.

There's nothing I want for it besides Dead Rising and Dead or Alive. No Final Fantasy, no Zelda, no Mario, no Gran Turismo, no Metroid, no God of War.

Just to comment on the OP's lack of reasoning skills: More PS3's may have been sold than xbox 360's during that one particular week, but that's because the market is more saturated with xbox 360 owners. Did you forget that the 360 had been out for months already??

Or, to put it another way, I'd bet there were more PS3's sold in the US during that one week than there were refrigerators sold. Does that mean that PS3's are more popular than owning a refrigerator and that more homes will have one than have a fridge?? Of course not. The only reason more PS3's were sold that week is because no one owned one in the prior weeks.

as much as i openly agree that the op's an idiot, your reasoning is also lacking. look at the numbers for the ancient ps2 and compare it to the relatively new 360. by your lamentably poor logic the undeniably more saturated ps2 should have miniscule sales compared to the 360.

I had a friend who had a Neo Geo as well. What rocked so hard about Neo Geo was that the games were EXACTLY the same as the aracde games. Not ports. That effing rocked. The PS3 has loads of potential. But right now it has very few games worth playing, and in my opinion absolutely zero games that are worth the 600 dollars+ investment to play it.

Also I'm still living in the past, I don't have an HD TV

There's your answer right there. Developers care about sales numbers, because they want to develop for a wide audience. I have a Gamecube, and it's a great system, but it didn't sell well so there are a lot of games I wanted to play that never made it to Gamecube (I also own an Xbox and PS2 so I can play those games). As a Wii owner, I want to see the Wii sell very well right from the start, so game developers will increase their development efforts for it (which they already started doing before it was released, thanks to Nintendo's awesome results at E3 and Sony's piss-poor performance at E3).

I'd also like to see the Xbox 360 sell well, because I don't want to have to spend $600 and use my least favorite controller of the last 3 generations to play the games I want to play.

Oblivion I'd rather play on PC. Dead Rising is not a "must have." Ghost Recon, pails in comparison to Vegas. Vegas is somewhat a "must have," but I'm a mouse and keyboard guy. If GoW or Resistance made it out on PC, it would be a sad state for 360 and PS3. Currently the Wii is the BEST console out.

Yah but we're talking console vs. console. Gotta keep the PC out considering the majority of people I know (and I'd say this would go for the majority of console owners) don't even have a PC capable of playing games at a worthwhile resolution.

And I don't see how one can even compare Vegas to GRAW. They are completely different games imho.

Dead Rising was the only exclusive you mentioned. and it's not a must have.
GRAW may not be on PS3, but that's due to the fact it'd be pointless to bring it over since GRAW2 is coming out shortly. PS3 came out too late for GRAW essentially.
Vegas is coming out soon. Same with Oblivion. sports games really are the same experience on any console you play them on. well, at least as far as PS3 and 360 go.

Fine, if we are keeping the PC factor out. The must-haves I originally listed still stands. You can make arguments for the other games listed (GRAW, Vegas, Dead Rising and so on) but they are not must-haves when compared to GoW.
