Define R4 or 350D

I currently got a 350D, but thinking about the R4. Design wise, it a draw, but I heard the R4 is pretty good at controlling noise. So I wonder if it better to or worth it replace my 350D for the improve noise management.

your 350d is microATX, the Fractal Desing equivalent of that is the Define Mini.

Unless you need to upgrade to an ATX mobo, the 350d isn't really worth upgrading.

Are you even sure your case is the biggest contributor to noise?

well, the Define got the noise dampening material so I thought that helps.

That doesn't really make much sense. Typically, it is the air passing through fans and nearby filters or meshes that causes the most noise. This means that by reducing the rotation speed of your fans will make your PC less noisy, at the cost of heat.

Very impressed the the R4. I just got it and put it together. Between my fortress FT-02 and TJ08-E, this case is dead silent. I did replace the fan however though. I got all the new corsair 140mm fans for intake, three 120mm fans for side vent, 212evo cpu cooler, and exhaust. I also had to flip my psu upside down to intake air from the case since the case rests on carpet and wasn't getting air. I can attest that even with the stock fans it was pretty silent. Also newegg was running a deal, you can probably still find one for the blackout edition for $79.

I have to say I'm really impressed with this case.

Three 120mm fans for side vent? The R4 can fit one fan on the side.

Oops. I meant one for side vent, one for 212evo, and one for exhaust. Still happy as can be with this case. Most silent case I've ever owned. Now gonna have to do my main pc which is gonna cost. Realized my old galaxy 1000 watt psu is loud as hell and it's time to replace that thing first, then new arctic cooler for the 780ti....
