Defrag Utility

I have a 1TB NTFS drive attached to my imac and i would like to defrag it but cant find any utilities. Does anyone know of anything to defrag a NTFS volume under osx?

What verstion of OS X do you have installed? If you dont have leopard installed with Macfuse and nfts-3g it would be slightly problematic seeing as you wont be able to write to the drive...

I have Leopard 10.5.5 and i already have ntfs3g installed so i can read and write to the drive i just need to figure out a way to defrag it without disconnecting it and movie it to my pc in the other room

I doubt you'll find any for OS X, defragging is largely pointless in any case and the fact that noone can write decent read/write NTFS drivers would make me especially leery of any defrag tools.

I'd argue that NTFS-3G is decent, but just barely. I certainly share your distrust in those same people writing a defrag utility though.

NTFS-3g uses the Windows NTFS.sys driver so it doesn't count.

Are you sure? Captive NTFS uses the NTFS driver from Windows, but as far as I know NTFS-3G is a perfectly clean implementation.

Actually I think you're right, for some reason I thought it was a fork of Captive.
