At least DT has flavor...it might give you the shits...but it tastes fairly good doing it.

Haha, haven't you seen the South Park episode Chipotlaway? And from personal experience, don't have the hot salsa at Chipotle. Did that yesterday and paid for it big time last night.

if you can't put together a tasty combo from what they have available, then you just suck.

i had chipotle for lunch. had a bogo coupon. was excellent.

I've already said this three times, anything I ask them to put in it should be good, if it's not then their food sucks and it does. I don't understand how people can eat that bland crap but it's for people who don't know real food so it makes sense. You only see them in nice areas where there's no other real food around.

The pictures on the website make Del Taco look like a taco bell type joint.

Chipotle is awesome when I have time to run over there during lunch.

There are local places with entire salsa bars here. And not just tomato style salsa either. There are huge bars of verde style sauce, hot, mild, diff varieties. Also tomatillo, pico de gallo, tomato salsa, buffalo, garlic based sauce, etc. Guacamole too but thats just fluff. Then we get into the hot sauce varieties, of which an entire restaurant chain (Tijuana Flats) is based. Its more like taco sauce than pico or tomato salsa though.

Essentially I want the entire world.

Del Taco is just slightly better than Taco Bell. And both are well below Chipotle in quality.

Chipotle is easily the best quasi fast food chain hands down.
If you prefer real food than Chipotle is a world away from anything else.

If you think Chipotle is bland than you are probably used to eating trans fat, sodium and preservative laden food.

"Del Taco: The Lake Forest-based Mexican fast-food chain was among the last of the major fast-food chains to switch to a healthier frying oil."

"Chipotle Mexican Grill: In compliance since 2004."

I am assuming that Del Taco still uses Trans Fat in areas where it is not banned.

I have both near me. Chipolte is definitely overhyped; but quality of food vs Del Taco? Seriously, it's not even close. Del Taco is better on price and that's it.

DT's burgers are okay, but not nearly as good as Sonic's, which is also close by.

The little mexican restaurants and taco trucks can use whatever the hell they want as they taste good. You can take your Chipotle and "fresh" bland ingredients, I'll take my food that I can actually taste. I'll take Del Taco as I can actually taste what I'm eating.

Baja Fresh>>>>Chipotle > Del Taco > Taco Bell

^^
Fixed

....Btw, Cali has soooo many good independent Mexican food places that for the dollar/quality/taste, there's no reason to go anywhere else....unless you're in quick fix a bind.

SoCal, yes. the Mexican food up here in NorCal, or at least--my side of the bay is embarrassing.

Chipotle is highly overrated. Not bad but for half the price I'd rather go to Beto's(hole in the wall) and get the same quality of food in a slightly more authentic fashion without having to pay for the ambiance of chipotle..

Del Taco is much cheaper both in price and quality compared to chipotle. That's not to say I wouldn't eat pretty much anything on DT's menu, I just don't want to pay for it. It's just not as 'upscale' or 'pop' as chipotle.

Del Taco's burgers are surprisingly good. Better than their taco's/burritos IMO but they're too expensive for what they are. I don't want to pay more for a DT burger than I would at In-n-out.

I've only been to chipotle once, just last weekend actually cause I had a two for one coupon. I'd go there all the time if they were located in a convenient location and I could get a burrito for 2.99 regular price. Since I can't I will probably never eat there again. No reason to when I've got these hole in the wall ghetto Beto's (and variants) on every block with at $3 burrito which is just as big as chipotle's.

Having said that, I never go to Del Taco either for the same reason as above. When I do feel like a fancier burrito and atmosphere I'll go to Cafe Rio and get something that costs just a buck or two more than Chipotle yet gives me two full meals worth of food. Cafe Rio is my favorite americanized mexican grill, bar none. It's just every year they jack up their prices by a dollar. And why shouldn't they? The place is always packed. On weekends I've counted over 25 workers all working simultaneously.

different people have different tastes. that's why they ALLOW you to pick your own ingredients.

basically you're saying that telling them to throw ONLY rice in the burrito should make a tasty burrito. it's retarded.

I eat everywhere, and what you say is totally laughable, I can get a better burrito at:

Baja Fresh
Rubios
Miguel Jr's
Cotijas
El Polo Loco

All are better, and all are cheaper, Chipotle wins on no level. It doesn't have flavor, and that has nothing to do with anything except it doesn't have much taste. Bland seasoning on the meat would be a reason I don't like it over you claiming it's because one's use to eating preservative laden food. Baja Fresh taste much better and doesn't have any of the crap you mentioned. I can one better what you said and make the statement that anyone who think's Chipotle has flavor hasn't had good Mexican food. Any place I mentioned is better by a huge margin.

And don't kid yourself Chipotle's shit is absolutely brimming with Sodium, they're on par with the worst offenders. And to top it off they still manage to lack the good flavor found elsewhere. How the fuck can a burrito that has over 3,000mg of sodium still be so bland? And how the fuck does it have so much sodium when the burrito's half the size of the one I get from Baja Fresh, which has less sodium?

Of course, the rice should taste good but they rice is as bland as the rest of their food. Whatever anyone asks to go in their burritos should taste good. I can't say it tasted bad cus it really had no taste to it. If someone went in to Chipotle and ordered a 100% rice burrito, the rice should taste good and have flavor but unfortunately it doesn't.

Hmm, I'll try that next time. Honestly don't know if I'm going to get the hot salsa again though. I think Medium will suit my needs.

I love the red salsa but I can't eat it anymore due to a major attack of LIQUID HOT MAGMA the next day...I'll give this a try next time.

EDIT: whoops, meant to reply to the banana post.

Chipotle is shitty unless you like 2 oz of meat along with half a fucking pound of rice and beans on your burritos.

WOW THOSE SURE ARE BIG

Oh, and to contribute, I'd take Chipotle over Del Taco any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Of course, I'd *rather* have a hole in the wall place, but if I'm not near one of those, or I'm buying for the family, then definitely Chipotle before Del Taco or Taco Bell.
