Apparently so. This makes at least 20 posted here in the last year. When do you suppose people will read the Paypal home page "Protect yourself from fraudulent emails and websites" and follow thier directions instead of coming here?

Sorry, I have a few more imprtant things to do than memorize the linkage on every website. I thought I'd do a favor and if it protected even one anandtech member, what's the big deal? Get off your high horse please...

I think you need to get of your moron horse, with it's ignorant saddle. We get at least two of these a week, and everytime, NO ONE CARES. Not only that, but if people can't even read from paypal themselves how to prevent being scammed when they sign up and everytime they log in, then I guess it's a lesson they need to learn. Maybe instead of posting about every scam, you can post a guide on how to detect scams, because simply posting one of a million paypal scams (in the wrong forum, mind you.) isn't going to do anything useful.

Hey, I find your posts even less useful, but I don't feel inclined to to jump in your threads and point it out. I didn't realize you were so smart, let us lesser beings point out a scam once in a while to eachother, and you can just go about your business of being ignorant, k? And to say no one cares would be a little bit of a misnomer, wouldn't it? There a few people who have posted in this thread who DO seem to care...

Your more than welcome to jump into all the 3 or 4 threads I've started and question their usefulness.... they've all been in OT, where most everything there is useless... you know, the OFF TOPIC FORUM, where people put things that aren't on topic... as in, not putting something that isn't a hot deal in hot deals..

I mean, what's so hard about understanding that this is the HOT DEALS forum, a forum for HOT DEALS. I don't see in the least how a paypal scam heads up fits in here. It's neither hot, nor a deal... and not even close to a combination of the words. This forum is for hot deals, and hot deals only. If people posted any consumer alerts here whenever they came up, these forums would be flooded with CRAP. Oh no, Ford had a recall! better post about it! Oh no, McDonald's coffee is hot, better post about it! Oh no, knives are sharp, better post about it!

I am confused! The title of this post is "PAYPAL SCAM" So why should anyone clicking on this posting get upset and beat up the poster. Admittedly, it is not in off topic where it would never be read. So it is not a hot deal. But everyone should know that prior to wasting their precious time looking. I for one do not berate because I chose to select the topic as written and did not expect to find even a cold deal. The explainations following the original post has increased my knowledge about what to look for and how to look to find the scammers.

Time for a lock - always gets out of hand when somebody posts about another PayPal scam. Personally, I don't think any ATer would fall for it, the only reason these threads even get read is to berate the poster.

It is the idiots who keep up the childish complaining who are the REAL problem. The thread clearly states it's subject matter. All the complaining just keeps it at the top. While I am posting-Forum rules clearly state that no profanity is permitted. You 12 and 13 year old mental giants who change one letter to "get around the rules" are only dragging down the quality of a great forum. If you want to use that kind of gutter talk go someplace that likes that trash.

Yes, time for a lock. There are 20 messages by default on the front page. 9 are tied up with stickies and this message makes 10 since it's bumped every few hours. It's not a hot deal and honestly, if you're stupid enough to fall for paypal phishing scams, you probably deserve to get ripped off.

Ok...how about we start a new thread for EVERY scam on the internet. I'm going to start with the Nigerian scam. I'll post a thread for every version I've ever received. Just to make sure some moron doesn't fall for it....
