If you're using only a single SATA drive for your boot disk, then you have to disable RAID in the BIOS.

Ok, so disable Nvraid. Do I disable the silicon sata too?

Yes, disable the SI RAID as well, unless you're using the SI SATA in RAID configuration, just to be sure.

On top of my problem with not being able to install windows....
While it is actually installing, It take literally hours rather than minutes as it should...what is that about?
And the refresh is very slow, like line coming down and text appearing slow....any ideas?

Yes now I am in windows. I had to revert to and old 120Gb IDE hd. And its took about 3 hrs to install Windows and the screen refreshing thing is HORRIBLE I mean this thing is moving SLOW... Opening windows etc: I took out each Vcard and tried. Even switched Ram, now the only thing I can think of is the chipset heatsink that I installed...It was pretty hot to the touch (its a Zalman passive) So im going to put the stock hs/f on. I am not sure if this will help but its worth a shot.

I removed the hs, and it appears that I may have applied too much AS5...Maybe disrupting the contact between the two.

They say less is more when it comes to AS5

Looks like you've proven them to be right

1) post complete specs please, we aren't psychics

2) did you install your nVidia chipset drivers?

3) yeah, the chipset is a hot 'un if my A8N-E is any indication :Q

4) you might find some helpful info on my SATA info page but basically you have to set the motherboard to boot from the hard drive. See the photo of the boot-device order screen near the bottom of that page, maybe that'll help.

Corsair XMS 3200Pro
2x36Gb Raptors

2) Yes but you have to understand that it took 3 hours to install windows....and once it did it take 5min to start....then when it does it takes FOREVER to open windows and such.
So it took along time to install them but it made NO dif. Im talkin SLOW

3) I think Ive been focusing on the wrong problem...
I probably had it right a few times..but bailed early b/c it was SO SLOW.

Im guess is that darn chippy, well see shortly.

Well I put it back together with the stock hs for the chip-set and no difference.
Still runs VERY slow.

When I say "complete specs" I really am after more detail. I don't know if you have the patience for this, but if you want to hit Quote and fill this out, it might shed light on stuff, usually does (unless the person simply leaves my info sprinkled in with his ).

Open the Task Manager, go to the Processes tab, and click the CPU heading twice (do not double click). The most CPU-demanding processes will appear at the top.

explorer.exe
spoolsv.exe

System Idle process
and the list goes on and on while idle. Keep in mind this is a new build not a virus situation.

New builds are the most vulnerable to viruses and worms. You could help by filling out that template I posted, which would help people to gauge your computer's exposure to worm attack during building.

One way it could get a virus without any Internet connection is if the Windows disc itself is warez. I'm trying to be patient but it is not easy when we have to wring information out of you. Anyway, I gotta go for a while, good luck in the meantime
