The pages/emails that say "We are NOT a pyramid or MLM (multi level marketing)" scheme always ARE one. If they weren't they wouldn't even say they weren't. You dont see the FAQ at dell.com saying they aren't one lol.
A pyramid scheme is basically where a bunch of people pay for the guy(s) at the top to get something. Thats the way this is, there's a fee for signing up and the 5 people and thier fees plus your fee is enough to pay for an ipod. The 5 people who sign up get 5 more each to sign up to get thier ipod. It looks like this:

So its a pyramid.
Edit: I checked the site. Not only are they asking for your email, but your address, your phone number, then a series of about 10 or 15 questions they call OPTIONAL but which you must answer yes or no to to be able to continue lol. All about stuff like do you want a car loan, do you want cheap perscription drugs, do you want cheap vacation, all the standard spam stuff. Of course I didn't put in any legit info.
Interesting stuff in thier privacy policy, here are some quotes about what they use your info for:
# to provide you with personalized information via electronic delivery and/or direct mail;
# to send you targeted advertising via electronic delivery and/or direct mail;
# to contact you for feedback and surveys via electronic delivery and/or direct mail;
# to send you general and administrative information about your FreeSlide membership via electronic delivery and/or direct mail; and
# to provide your contact information to FreeSlide marketing partners to allow them to send you special offers via electronic delivery and direct mail.
We employ other companies and individuals to perform certain functions on our behalf. Examples include sending direct and electronic mail, removing duplicate information from customer lists, analyzing data, and providing marketing analysis.
So basically they will sell your info for almost any reason.
Thats how they plan to make the money. Plus if you get a loan or buy something from a link there they get a kickback. And of course, they may not send you the ipod at all. Why should they? Pyramid type schemes are against the law so what recourse will you have if they DONT send you the stuff? "Excuse me officer but I never got my pyramid scheme reward, can you go after him?" HAHAAHAAHH
Also notice how the guys who post posts that violate the rules almost always are thier first post. Why? Becasue they probably have a regular account here and know this violates the rules and dont want to get thier normal anand account banned, so they make a new one. I mean come on "aaabbbccc" for a name? Lol, he sure didn't spend much time thinking that one up lol.
