deleting corrupted fileplanet cache

okay well basically i tried to download Ground Control since they're offering it for free on fileplanet.

In the middle of the download my computer froze though so I had to reboot. And since I'm an idiot, I renamed the cache file that fileplanet gives from "groundcontrol_gsi.exe.FilePlanetCache" to just "groundcontrol_gsi.exe". Now Windows thinks it's a program (a 0kb one) and I can't do ANYTHING to it - rename it, delete it, move it, whatever. It just sits there on my desktop being annoying. I've tried to remove it in safe mode but it doesnt work. It always says the disk is currently in use, full or write-protected. (But it's not).

Any help would be appreciated.

try opening CMD, and type "del." in the correct folder (remember to move all files you need from that directory)

I tried that too. It says "access denied"

If you had read my original post, I've tried using safe mode already.

Okay I decided to put a spin on your advice and try booting into safemode, MS-DOS mode.

and viola it worked.
