Delivery Driver Rips Cross Off Woman's Door

Maybe the cross was on top of the doorbell? Can’t really see any anger or malicious intent, almost like he’s moving something aside to ring the doorbell. Why would someone destroy someone’s property...and then wait around for them to answer the door? Why wouldn’t he just do that after he got paid and was ready to leave? Something seems off, but I’ve already wasted too much brain on this.

I guess we should hear his side of the story. But it the link says the cross was where it was for years and years so it is likely it wasn't on top of the doorbell. The restaurant is also deeply apologetic and disavows the action and will cooperate with any police investigation. Looks rather like the delivery guy was a bigoted prick to me. My guess is that he will be fired.

The mental gymnastics being used to rationalize or dismiss what this delivery driver did deserve gold medals. The cost of the object is irrelevant as it is a symbol, and its removal is an act of hatred towards that symbol.

Regardless of what it is. It was private property and he vandalized it. At a minimum the Restaurant should hold him accountable as he was their employee. They should also apologize to the homeowner for the vandalism.

It may just be what the homeowner reported to the police. As in she called it racially motivated, so of course it gets recorded as such.

These days I believe the punishment for a misdemeanor is imprisoning your children in a concentration camp. That should be sufficient to deter against this type of heinous crime again.

Maybe we should charge the driver with a hate crime and shame him with a Twitter tribunal.

Doubt it would go that far, but to be honest, if this was reversed I suspect it would get added to the stat about 'increasing Islamophobic hate crime'. And would probably be blamed on Brexit.

The guy should be asked to explain himself and possibly sacked, depending on how that goes, I think. Obviously he's not going to prison (people don't go to prison in the UK for even violent crimes, even killing people gets let off) but seems worth checking out what's going on with him.

Sounds like the restaurant owners are genuine in disavowing the chap. Maybe he's a new guy and a bit dim?

It's hardly a terror attack, but I would have thought that completely dismissing it could play into the Christian victimhood narrative (that the OP likes to push). Christians here are predominantly from ethnic minorities themselves, these days (some Christians seem to have a bit of a victimhood-contest thing going on with relation to Muslims, and some come from countries where the two groups take turns having a go at each other).
