Not a very bad deal, though it is only 14.1" veiwable (same as a 15" crt) this is a good price! If you are lookin for a flat panel here you go! Also it is black and that just makes it cooler!

Use a $30.00 coupon and then a $30.00 MIR

I think even buy.com is uninterested in their 'Duds' Of The Day. I checked this morning and they hadn't even changed it fom the excercise bike of the day. I guess they changed it just recently. This must be the job of the new guy right after getting the bosses' coffee.

Or try this. $549 for 15.1" with built-in video and USB ports. This is an e-mail I received a couple days ago with special dealer demo price.

That vuniq deal is pretty sweet--400:1 contrast ration is better than pretty much everything out there. Too bad I have never heard of the company before.

I was kinda in the market for a lcd panel. The dell is fully digital , though I am sure it may be better I dont want to put in a new card to run it. The Vuniq monitor is analog which is what I want. In comparing it to a few NEC or Viewsonic lcd's it looks to be abetter quality resolution and It seems to compare to lcds costing 900$ plus. I think I will order one tomorrow after a bit more thought. 585 shipped is not too bad. The shipping fee is 35 which made me pause, but unless a better deal pops up this seems fairly hot. I checked out the Dell which is a very good deal for 439$. Guess I am still not sure

darn... I just bought the IBM lcd... I spent 950 without a card. Mine is digital... i wonder if this is the analog one (much cheaper)... but at that price it is worth it.

After a night of struggle, and searching through everywhere, I cannot find any LCD with similar specs, especially the contrast ratio of 400:1 or just 350:1, for less than $800. I just broke down and bought one for $585 withoutthe MIR hassle.

Ron2368- Yes, I had the same feeling about their shipping charge. Butthe overall cost is $585 which I just cannot resist. Can you just think this LCD is $585 shipped!!! Also, I strongly recommend a 15" vs. 14" LCD (similar to 17" vs. 15" CRT screen size.)

Kawaii - Thanks for the link. I found out that the $549 is a special promotion/demo price for Vuniq's dealers and resellers. This oughta consider *HOT*

Screw analog. It might currently be cheaper but it's really a bad investment since the digital interface is becoming more popular on the fast 3D cards. It seems utterly stupid to me to convert digital to analog and then back to digital again. LCD monitors are natively digital and their interface should also be. I doubt that the best looking analog LCD can match the best looking digital.

Havoc... I totally agree.. that is why I spent the extra dough for the digital. Why spend so much for a flat panel and then not even get digital. But, this month in I think PCcomputing or PC home office had an article on the difference in quality between the two and it should no virtual differences. But, I don't care I am still happy... If I am going to pay big bucks I am going to at least do it right.

I agree with HaVoc and Unclemo that going all digital is a better alternative since theoretically, the all digital setup will provide better images. However, the standard for digital interface has just recently been set and most of the video cards in the market either do not support digital outputs or do not have the new standards built-in yet. The analog LCD is currently a better choice for majority of the people as they do not need to purchase new video card and won't have to worry digital-to-digital compatibility problems. Also, the digital-analog technology has advanced so much that the difference between the digital LCDs and well-designed analog LCDs is minimal.

If you are setting up a new system and have money to spend, go for all digital; make sure you have the latest digital interface standard though (else it's obsolete already.) If you are just upgrading your monitors, can't beat the $549 price for a 15" LCD.

hiKris, you are welcome.
