While I can't speak for the router, I have used many of Dell's switches, and the 2016 is an especially good bargain. Fast and SILENT (!) switch that has auto-negotiating ports: no more crossover cables needed. (And it's rack-mountable to boot!)

These are not manageable, you have to pay for a higher level switch for that.

As for the deal that is pretty sweet. If I had LAN Parties or anything I would buy one but as it stands I dont need it.

Work in a data center, we have a bunch of these that came with servers. We've had probs with the auto-negotiating not always picking up systems when plugged in initially. Only way to get them to recognize a system is to power cycle the switch. Noticed this with both the managed and unmanaged models. Also had one completely crap out on us. Just as an FYI for those of you thinking of using these in a critical work environment.

I don't think it'd matter too much in a home or small office environment though.

Anyone know how the wireless router compares to a Dlink 614+? I have one of the older ones that is now about 1.5 years old. I would be using this for 802.11b until I find good deals to upgrade my cards.

I have the router - only it's not set up yet...

From what I know dell is rebranding several Aegere Orinoco products, which are first rate. I would not be surprised if this is an Orinoco as well, so yes this would be sweeeet.

i ordered the 2024 model since a 24 port model is a little better for the lan parties.

$135 shipped for a 24 port 100baseTX switch and a 802.11B/G router is very hot!

Geesh! if you plan to keep this thing for more than a year, the extra $19 for 3 years worth of parts (meaning swap the unit when it goes bad) is worth it.
