Dell 17-inch Color Monitor for $125 shipped

It's a great deal.....got it on Monday...nice quality and looks like new.

I just got mine.


The screen has a 1/2" long scratch in it.

I wonder if I will be able to exchange it?

I just got mine today, at $125 after coupon. I got a little worried because the material packaged with it says E770p, but the label on the back of the monitor says M781P. I'm not sure if the E770 is better or worse, but I got what I paid for

Cosmeticly (sp) it looks fine, and the sticker on the back says May 2000, so it's not that old. Heck, it's newer than my old Nokia 447L it's replacing.

I haven't done any in-depth testing, but the picture looks crisp, colors are good, averall better picture quality than the Nokia. It's running at 800x600 at 85Hz.

Only problem was a high-pitched whine (leaking capacitor?) when I first powered it up, but that went away as soon as Windows started.

Overall I'm very pleased with the purchase.

UPS just delivered mine. I have it runnin 1280 x 1024 and it looks sweet!
What sucks is that this monitor looks waaaaayyyyyy better than the ADI G66 19" monitor I just got. I like the bigger screen on the ADI but this Dell blows away the ADI for image quality.

I think I'll order another before they are all gone.

Dayum! I just cranked it up to 1600 X 1200 and it is still razor sharp! You have to look close cuz the characters are so small but the focus is awesome!
Now I am really pissed cuz my $300 ADI looks like doo-doo at 1600 X 1200.
I can't believe how good this looks at 1600 X 1200.

Just got mine, and this is one GREAT monitor. I bought it for
my daughter, but now she's getting my old Sony and this one is
going in my development bed...What a winner...

One problem, though. I ordered the m781mm (with speakers built
into the base). Unfortunately, they sent me the accessories kit
for the m781p. That means I didn't get the power adaptor for the
speakers. I called buy.com and they say the only way they'll handle
this is to do an RMA on the entire monitor and then send me a "new"
one...How stupid is that? I am not too inclined to do that, as it's
a major hassle for me...

I also tried calling Dell, since this monitor is supposed to come
with a 1 year warranty. But they said that since I bought the monitor
from buy.com, the warranty doesn't come from Dell...Hmmm...Does that
mean if it breaks in 364 days, Buy.com is gonna RMA it for me?

Does anyone know the specs of the power supply you're supposed to use
with this?

Mine came without the PS also. There is no way I will return this just to get a PS. Mine looks too good to give it up. I think the PS connector has the voltage stamped on it and you should be able to get a cheap PS from radio shack. You won't need a big power supply. Couple hundred milliamps should work fine.

Even when ordered directly from Dell, Dell only warrantees Monitors beyond the first year of initial purchase when they are purchased directly from Dell. They can tell from the serial number of the monitor when it was manufactured, so if you have one that was made in 1998, then you aren't going to get anything from them but troubleshooting (and very little, as monitors are very easy from their stand-point: it works or it doesn't). I would tend to believe that the Buy.com warranty is all you will get for these, also, as you do not have a Dell Order number, nor a system service tag.
