I own two of these, they are really high quality, the bezel looks much much better in person than in the pictures and the picture quality is great...i get no ghosting in games whatsoever and divx videos etc look great with no ghosting and it's very bright.

i've played these games on it:
Jedi Knight 2
Q3
Ut
UT03
NWN
NFS5
Spider Man: the movie

no ghosting

i will take some pictures in a bit with both of them next to each other. this thing looks great with cleartype on in xp and with digital vibrance on low hehe.

and rossman.... i believe any DVI card will do, i can tell the difference between a analog nvidia and ati but i cant tell the difference when they are running in DVI mode, i believe i read somewhere that DVI does not go through the filtering circuitry, not sure though but from what i've seen it looks like it.

Finally canceled my order. I heard people complaining on FW that Dell shipped them the refurb ones, not the new ones, and many of them have dead pixels.

Ciber,

So you have a dual monitor setup ? It would be great if we could take a look at some of your pics of your setup.

I think I'll pass on this one, I really wanted a 17" LCD damn.

Instead I'll keep laptop hunting (that has an LCD only it's 14.1" LCD better than nothing I figure).

tazmania: Where did you see the people on FW complaining about refurbs and dead pixels? I only found one guy complaining about that. Though I couldn't really understand what the heck he was trying to say (not the clearest english).

I got the 200fp, and it is beautiful. Not a refurb. Incredible monitor.

the 17 is gorgeous. you can see it from pretty much any angle.

dead pixels are unavoidable.

If you also check the thread for Dell's 19" FP on FW, you'll see what I mean.

I don't mean there will be a large quantity of refurbs or dead-pixel panels Dell is gonna ship, but I just don't want to take a chance. Besides, there is limited reviews on this flat panel. That's why I passed.

Do a google search for 2000fp, as well as a Usenet search. You'll find dozens of reviews, pretty much all raving about it.

Hyundai L70A is just as good, if not better, for $525

I have this monitor; I just ordered it a week ago and received it a couple days ago as a result of reading a thread in ArsTechnica.

The consensus at Ars is that this is the best 17" LCD with DVI in the price range. The next best monitors are from Viewsonic and NEC/Mitsubishi, both over $200 more than the Dell price. Ghosting is virtually nonexistant; it's nowhere as bad as the other LCDs that I've seen. I don't see ghosting in any games except for Counter-strike, and it's only on the black character models against a light background (like a wall). Text is stunning in both analog and even more in digital (my friend has one through a GF4 DVI out), and I am currently running it through analog because I don't have a card with DVI out yet.

My monitor has one dead pixel, but my friend's had none. I'll try calling them today to try to get the $75 coupon since I just ordered it a week ago.

I just recently checked my reward points from using AMEX Blue and I noticed that I have accumulated over 10,000 points during the year. 10,000 reward points can be used for a $100 gift certificate for dell.com... just FYI.

I believe that is correct also. DVI uses a digital interface, which sends data in binary, 0 or 1. So basically no filters can alter the values and degrade 2D text quality. Anand did an article about the low pass filters of GeForce cards a while back, and he explains that DVI goes through no filters, IIRC.

Got the monitor this afternoon. Looks to me that text is a little out focus (makes me feel dizzy). Has anyone had this problem? I am running Win2K.

Thanks
