Yes, it's true. At least in France where many users from the following forumchecked their 1905FP recently shipped and got this AUO M190EN03 V0 panel in place of the famous Samsung panel. So, when AnandTech wrote that the Dell 1905FP is almost the same as the wonderful Samsung 193P it is not true.. at least until today!

Want to know what panel your 1905FP uses?

1- Turn off your screen
2- Press simultaneously the 'Menu' and '+' button of the screen.
3- While holding the 2 buttons press now the 'Power' button.
4- Once the screen in ON, unpress the 3 buttons.
5- Go to OSD menu (by pressing 'Menu' button) then select the 'Reinit' option (red point at the bottom of menu).
6- Select 'Factory' option.
7- You can see now the panel manufacturer (as the pic posted below).

This 1905FP was shipped last February and it uses a AUO panel.

AUO makes fine panels. They're no better or worse than Samsung IMO.

Don't believe the 1000:1 contrast ratio from Samsung. They like to inflate spec numbers.

There is a reason the service menu is difficult to get into, Proceed at your own risk!

Well I just received my 1905FP about 8 days ago and here is what mine reports doing the steps outlined above:
1905FP AMLCD (LTM190E4-L02) V016

What panel is this one?

interesting...the 8ms. spec is obviously inflated though. in reality, it's maybe 20ms. average...Samsung doesn't specify their measurement method. I do like the AUO panel better because of PVA though.

has the measurement always been grey-to-grey? I thought it was supposed to be white to black or something.

Playmoobil: how did you figure that out? are there methods to get info for other LCDs?

Well, I guess the AUO panel used by some 1905FP may be faster.. at least on the paper. In theory the AUO panel is faster than the previous Samsung (20ms vs. 8ms grey-to-grey). But what about the DSP used by Dell within the screen.. is it programed only for 20ms or less?? I guess if Dell want to launch a 8ms screen then they might launch a brand new product. This could be more logical in a commercial point of view.

Please, have a look to the inventory table. We translated it in English

And you can find the formular here (in English too)

yes, but 20ms. might not be a gray-to-gray measurement. it also said <20ms. (which means "less than 20ms".) it could mean 8ms. for all we know (probably not). or, it could mean 20ms. maximum, which is likely but quite impressive. all modern panels are about 20-30 ms. maximum, and the larger panels (21"+) can be even less.

Received mine on Monday, has the Samsung panel. Revision A00.
Ghosts pretty bad, tried all kinds of different settings, might just be my unit though.

just got the Panel today. Outside box says Rev A01. On the monitor it says AMLCD V017. I guess I got the newest batch of Samsungs. Just got it installed, and haven't tweaked it yet.

damn.. just like other samsung panels on 1905, mine ghosts like crap. It's nice panel outside of playing games, but I'm not sure if I want to keep it or not. Then again, I bought the panel to let me dual screen for coding...

Has anyone in the US gotten a 1905fp with the AUO panel? I got a new 1905fp last week. The box is labelled rev A00 and it has the Samsung panel. The Samsung panel has a beautiful picture, but it blurs text quite a bit while scrolling. I'm curious how the AUO panel compares.

BTW, someone earlier in this thread said they have a rev A01 which has the Samsung panel, so apparently the rev doesn't indicate which panel is used.

yup, RevA01 for me was Samsung panel. It's a V17 panel though, so I think it's the newest revision for the Samsung. It still ghosts like crap on games, but beautiful panel otherwise.
