Buy the 30" This POS can't compare and it costs more money and it's smaller...what are you guys thinking? This is like paying for a SL500 and getting a SLK280.

-27" panels pixels are way to big. I don't know if you ever used a 19" LCD before or not but they look grainy because you can see the large pixels, the 27" Dells pixels are even larger than those on the 19" LCD's @ .31mm vs .29mm!!! Largest pixels I know of. We need smaller not larger. OTOH the 30" Dell has the smallest of any consumer LCD another bonus.

- it's PVA and all it's problems from color shifting to slow to lag

Dell should charge $600 for it.

LOL I can't believe Dell Is allowing these reviews to stay there:

Title: Overpriced and Grainy, Low Resolution Date: January 25, 2007
Pros: Great if you're going blind or don't want to wear glasses. Great Inputs, nice for HDTV as well. Looks nice.
ConsQuality. Simply too grainy due to the large dot pitch. Imagine sitting close up to a 32" HDTV, like 1"-2" away. You can literally see pixels. Should be a cheaper version of the 2560x1600 30" monitor but it's actually more expensive.

Additional ThoughtsGo for the 2407, it's absolutely oustanding and you can buy 2 at the price of this. You won't see anything more on the 27". Just get a 24" and move it closer to your face for the same experience.

Or, go large with the 30", just make sure you have the graphics card for it, which can be expensive for gaming.

I think the size is ideal: 24 is a little too small for me for xbox/movies. 30 has a native res that requires SLi or a 8800GTX to even think about gaming on.

100% agreed.

I'd love to see a panel with 30'' 2560x1600 resolution like the Dell 3007FPW and many component outputs so that you can use it for your console too.. But that would kill their LCD TVs sales.. Now this monitor would rock imho..

Weren't they big enough on the 24in.

You can figure out pixel density with this
http://www.tvcalculator.com/

EDIT:
This 27" 1920x1200 = Pixel Density: 7030 pixels / sq. in.
24" 1920x1200 = Pixel Density: 8900 pixels / sq. in.
20" 1600x1200 = Pixel Density: 9989 pixels / sq. in. (have two of these)
17" 5:4 1280x1024 = Pixel Density: 9300 pixels / sq. in.
19" 5:4 1280x1024 = Pixel Density: 7440 pixels / sq. in.
102" 16:9 1280x720 = Pixel Density: 207 pixels / sq. in. (good for movies )

So a little worse than a 19" 5:4 at 1280x1024?

I almost skipped over this post because of your avatar... Everytime I see this 'tar I think Ashshayte or whatever his name is...

You can run games at a lower rez centered (w/ black bars around) on the 30" very nicely, which means you can wait for your desired video card to come down in price etc.
Though you don't get the alternative video inputs on the 30", so if you need to hook it up to the XBox or PS3 etc., then yeah, it's not an option really...

It will look fine if you dont sit 1' away from the screen.

Think about LCD TVs that have 1366x768 native resolutions.

Just sit further back and I am sure the picture will still look amazing at native res.

Never: they all rely on same Samsung 30" panel. Even if they change something, it is still going to be same panel...

Also, there is Acer 26" that costs $750, but has issues with native resolution and DVI.

Um, no. HP is already using the new panel which looks much better than the current 30" panel Dell is using. The new model number for the new 30" is 3007WFP-HC which will use a new panel and like I said, looks much better than the current 30" Dell LCD.

Maybe I'm wrong, maybe HP uses panel from somebody else.

That one from your link looks like this one.

It's not. That is a S-PVA panel, the HP and Dell are S-IPS panels.

Dude, go do the research on your own. You're obviously misinformed.

Hm, my laptop is about 8.125"x13" (15.4" diag.) at 1920x1200... that's 105.625 in.^2 with 2304000 pixels, or 21813 pixels/in.^2.

You're right, Master Monitor List from sticky thread shows that both HP and Dell are S-IPS, and that samsung has their own 30".

hmm, that's exactly why i'd buy a 30" screen........... so i could use it in 24" mode!

dude, the shear amount of graphics horsepower required to run future UE3 engine games at 2560x1600 makes my wallet shudder in horror, i'll stick with 1920 thank you very much.

give me the 2707 at a decent price and i'll be delighted, you can keep your 2560 dreams.

Oh they have come true when i got this 2560x1600 monster

I don't use the display for gaming only anyway.

Frankly, i do very little gaming compared to most people here i'm sure.

And for everything else, this display is godlike.

As for games, call me crazy, but for online MP fps titles, i actually like a smaller screen.

1600x1200 is my preferred size because of how far i sit away from my desk/display.

For non multiplayer, when having high fps isn't such an issue, i can run stuff higher rez, & once the X2800 arrive on the scene, things will be better anyway.

Anyone know when that Samsung 275T is coming out? $999 seems like a good price point. I've heard February, but it's already halfway through Feb. and no sign of it yet.
