i think UPS will only work holidays on the real expensive shipments ie: sonicair bestflight, next day air early am, et al. I dont think their union would make them run ground stuff on the 4th.
I sent an e-mail to Kim complaining about various things like the unpersonalized e-mail poor marketing practices etc. I made it look professional and used good grammar and everything, and today I got a response. She said she apologized and offered to give me the deal on the Samsung 900NF. w00t, count 1 for me. Anyway, just thought I'd let you all know the deal is still available if you just send a good e-mail to her. I decided to buy the Dell P991 anyway tho hehe, so I just ordered it on the site.
I just called 1-800-449-3355 and spoke with Roy x46992 who is going home soon but I explained to him (didn't give my name or mention this forum) that I had e-mailed a complaint letter to Kim that I was unhappy about Dell pulling a "bait and switch", blah blah blah he said well I'm gonna go ahead and take care of you don't worry so he was willing to offer me the 20% off AND free shipping TODAY on non-Dell branded and Dell branded merchandise. They are open for another 1 hour 20 minutes, if you do not like the answer the CSR is giving you then talk to a manager, just be polite but firm. They did advertise an expiration date of 7/3 originally and I believe they should uphold to that.
I asked if they had any Sony CPD-G420S's in stock he said YES.
someone blow it already, when I called, this Roy guy was alreasy aware of this board, and firmly rejected my repeated request. I don't know whom should I am pissed at...
yeeeeehaaa...I got the deal, now I have two days to think about if I wannan cancel, I am from Texa, they will charge tax on me, and that's a $34 on that sony G420! ouch! but for those of you outside Texas, call now, I spoken with Kyurrum @ 48394, he is friendly and helpful. but they only have 10 min before the end of the day, so act now!!!!!
My Samsung 950p monitor came before noon today, which is less than 24 hours after I ordered it. It came from Fontana, CA and I live in SoCal, so it didn't have to go very far, but still that was very fast for free shipping.
Ordered the Sony G520 Wednesday and got it yesterday. Awesome monitor!
Could have gotten it Friday but I missed the UPS courier by an hour. :frown:
I ordered it on the web for $681.56 (20% off $851.95) with free shipping. Later that evening I saw the price dropped down to $768.95 or $615.16 with 20% off, so I called for price protection and got it for $615.16!
By the way, my G520 was made in Japan (at least that's what's marked on the box).
got my 900nf yesterday not damaged or anything and i also live in so. cal so it got here overnight from when it was shipped just like paying for overnight shipping, and the monitor is GREAT... and big lol tnx for the help guys!
I got my G420 on the 3rd. Made in Mexico (doubt it matters). It's the best monitor I've ever owned. At 60lbs, I was almost EXPECTING it to come broken. Alas, it did not. Perfect condition. I LOVE this monitor.
my text is tottaly clear @ 1600x1200 and i did do the modification to my geforce 2 i removed 9 capacitors and jumpered 6 inducers makes the text better
My 900NF is going back too...there are parts of the screen that give a nasty brown tint. I also really don't like the aperture lines. Should i go for the 955DF? Any opinions? Also, how is Dell's return policy...I haven't had a chance to call them yet. Overall I'm pretty disappointed
I wouldn't be disappointed. Got a bad product, exchange it and see if you like it then. The lines don't bother me, though I thought that Samsung does not have them? I was REALLY surprised to see them, but I already got used to them on another monitor, so I'm cool with those. Give it a month and you won't even realize they are there.
DON'T call Dell, go to www.dellcare.com. I tried the phone method, but could not get ahold of them. So now I am taking care of this via email.
This is my personal experiences with Aparture Grille monitors:
I have 2 Sony G400s and seen 2 other NEC FE950s do the same things when it is first used: a brown or yellow area at one of its four corners. Usually it goes away after a few days of use.
So I suggest that you use your monitor for a couple of days before sending it back to Dell. I know, it's depressing to see an expensive monitor do this, but wait a little while first.
Thanks for the website and the tips. The brown tint really looks bad, especially since this is an expensive monitor. I'll wait a while to see if they go away, but I really don't think it can be fixed. As for the aperture lines, i'm surprised that not too many people are bugged by it. It's probably because i'm anal retentive...hopefully I'll get over them after a while...haha.
