I'm having similar problems with my G420 and whenever I call Dell, I wait forever and then get the runaround when I do contact someone. They want me to check this and that. I can tell them 'til I'm blue in the face that this monitor has the brownish discoloration in the lower right hand corner even on another system and they don't seem to believe me.
I think I will wait a few days and see if the discoloration clears up. Maybe then I will feel like waiting on the phone for an hour and then having to deal with someone at Dell.
Call me crazy, but isn't this promotion supposed to drum up business for Dell? I haven't dealt with them since I bought my P133 system and the way that I'm being treated now, I don't know that I will ever buy anything from them again. I'm glad that I tested them with a monitor. Would hate to have problems with a computer right now.
I think a monitor of this caliber should not have any sorts of defects like this. Right now, until I go to show a photo on the Sony, I'm happier with my 17" Liteon sub $200 Shadow Mask monitor. I've had zero problems with it and it works great. It's a hard pill to swallow when I like it almost as much or better than a monitor that costs more than double.
Enough venting..
