I want one of these so bad... but $780 is a lot of dough to cough up specially since my 19" CRT does me just fine for now.

Dell has a number of warehouses. Someone actually posted the list somewhere in the Hot Deals forum. Do a search.

OMG, delivery tomorrow! The package originated from SECAUCUS, NJ UPS center (I'm an hour away from there). If the warehouse is in NJ, how come no tax for me? Strange.

I've been waiting for this price drop for a while, and finally ordered mine over the weekend.

Now the whole response time thing has me a little freaked.

Having had both a 25ms LCD and now this 2001FP, I'd say that 25ms is hardly subpar for gaming and movies. I don't think I would be able to tell the difference if I were paid to. That said, this *is* a gorgeous monitor.

Further proving the 2001fp may only have a 25ms response time? Have we all been duped? Or is it just a typo? I'm just playing devil's advocate here, I'm surely hoping for the latter.

I think my analysis leans towards the 2001fp from this current batch having 16ms response time. Though it is possible that it has 25ms. Please review post above.

I am in the US. CA actually.

If you got it, would you know what the response time is (without looking) in the manual? If not, what difference does it make?

I would know from my uses with the 1901FP through a host of aps @ 25ms from games to ect. ... 16 ms would have to be an improvement from were my monitor would lack...This wuold tell me if it were the same that it indeed would have to be 25ms not 16ms improvement!

I wouldnt bet on that. The larger the panel, the more apparent the ghosting. Compare two panels with 25 ms response time, a 19" and 23" and you will notice considerably more ghosting on the 23" panel, even though it has the same response time. This makes the comparison of two screens of different sizes difficult.

Moreover, response time is not the only determining factor for ghosting. How the rise and fall are proportioned makes a huge difference. The panel that wins every comparison as the best gaming panel has 25ms response time (Prophet).

Got mine. Very easy to install. I use the DVI connection. Just power up computer and monitor, select DVI input on the monitor, and evergthing is set. This one is made in April 2004 by Benq (China). No dead pixels so far.

I am getting this information from the Product Details page for Home S&P and Outlet (i.e. Refurb) S&P

Dell Home currently has no Response time listed for 2001FP under Tech Specs. Click Here

Dell Outlet curerntly lists the Response time for the 2001FP at 25ms. Click Here

What is the likelihood that this newest batch of 2001FP's could be using a different display which has a 25ms response time?

Just got mine. Jesus, this thing is HUGE! Anyway, no dead pixals and as Welst10 said, very easy to install. I'm very happy with it.

Welst10 confirms that this LCD panel (this batch) has 16ms response time.

This is a rebranded BenQ, I checked on the BenQ site, they only have 1 20.1 LCD panel and it has the exact specs as the Dell 2001FP, and 16 ms response time.

Thanks for the info Welst10!

Someone has given this monitor a mixed review?

Blasphemy!

the 'graininess'/screen door effect when viewing grays and whites is the only significant negative, but it is easy to get used to (kind of pleasant actually)

What causes the graininess? I've had my 2001FP for about a month and that is the only quirk I've noticed about it. I'm glad to know it's not a defect with my monitor or anything. It was kind of odd to see it, as I upgraded from a Viewsonic 18.1" LCD and that panel did not have the graniness.

But you're absolutely right; it's only slightly evident when viewing certain pages/colors and even then you don't notice it after a minute. It's certainly not as evident as the 2 horizontal lines in Trinitron or other aperture grille CRT's.

Even so, I'm sure there are some nitpickers who cannot stand to have anything less than a "perfect" panel (and I don't think one exists yet). For the price, I'm pretty confident that the Dell is the best available right now. The size and response time are excellent!

I'd also like to say that I've played several games on this panel, and none have exhibited the slightest bit of ghosting. The Viewsonic 18.1" had slight ghosting in some games and this panel is definitely better in that aspect.

I've read that it is caused because of a thin black separator between each pixel in the panel. Put 1,920,000 pixels together and the separator leads to a 'screen door' effect. I still dig the screen though. I have a 15 inch Mitsubishi LCD sitting next to it. The Mits is brighter and doesn't exhibit the screen door effect, but the one dead pixel on it sticks out like a sore thumb, versus the 3 or so dead pixels on my Dell which I can only spot after some avid searching. Size and dot pitch wins in the end And the Dell ghosts significantly less than the Mits (which is rated at 25ms).

If you see screendoor effect, push the monitor further back on the desk. You're looking at it too close. No need to put your face on the monitor while you work.

Although a beautiful monitor, for the hard-core gamers, it's not fast enough.

I was extremely excited to have received my 2001FP. I hooked it up, loaded UT2004, and was immediately disappointed.

If you are a casual gamer, or play games that aren't as fast paced as UT2003/4, you'll LOVE the monitor. If you are very picky about blurryness, you'll notice it in the faster games.

I did notice that when I set my in-game mouse sensitivity settings back to the defaults the effect was minimized, but I play with the sensitivity fairly low for improved aiming. With the settings I use, the problem was very evident. My wife who plays almost no games at all saw it without me having to point it out.

Just food for thought. It'll be awesome for 98% of the people out there. If you're one of the 2%, wait a little longer for the 12ms and 10ms ones coming down the pike.
