While there were a number of reports of backlight issues with the Oct 03 and earlier initial production run (Dec monitor sale), there have been very few reports of backlighting problems with monitors received after mid-December (late Oct 03 run, Nov 03 and later LCDs). The number of reported dead/stuck pixels has dropped from 5-10 per online report, to an average of 1-3 pixel problems for those reporting such problems. Many/most report no dead or stuck pixels. Under Dell's 30-day Customer Total Satisfaction Guarantee, you can exchange or return the monitor without any restocking fees for any reason within thirty days of the shipping date, since the 2001FP monitor is a Dell branded peripheral. One individual reported making four exchanges for dead/stuck pixels, another was offered a new replacement when they called about one dead pixel! (linked).

I'd like know how the 2001fp compares to the 2000fp. I see the tech specs but qualitatively how much better is the 2001fp? The more descriptive the better. TIA

Some have backlight leak issues, some have "grainy" effect issues, and some dead\stuck pixels.

Personally, I have very light leakage, deffinate grainy and one stuck pixel. It's a nice monitor though even with all the faults.

I've been hearing alot of good things about the quality of this monitor. Seems like a good deal too! However, I was able to find someone selling the 1901FP (19") for $500 brand new. Which is a better deal?

I have a Nov. 2003 Rev. A00 build date, with no grainyness, no light leakage, but 3 stuck pixels that I can't notice.

Mine is an Oct build date (I got in on this deal before X-mas), and I LOVE IT. No graniness, no light leakage, two stuck and one dead pixels (not bad AT ALL on a screen this size) which are totally unnoticable. I also like the 4 port USB hub built in.

It's a great display, and it is certainly worth the extra over the 19", as it does 1600x1200 native. As for comparisons to the 2000fp, I never saw one of those in person, though I do like the thin bezel on the 2001.

I'd be in, but I'm afraid of a 1600 x 1200 native resolution. You'd need a 9800XT to run any new games at that res with decent detail.

From what many are saying it looks very good playing them at 1024x768. And 800x600 should look perfect since it's an even multiple of 1600x1200.

CRAP! I just bought one last week when it was $799!! Literally ordered on Jan 14th, got it on Jan 16th, now the price is down on Jan 22nd. It has two stuck pixels (red) which don't bother me unless i'm really looking for them.

Do you think I can call and get credit to reflect the better price? Circuit City has price protection like this, I wonder if dell will do it.
