For 1280x1024 you have three choices
- use native resolution (saves dots -)
- keep aspect ration (thinner)
- use full screen (lose aspect ratio)

This monitor is great. I purchased one in Dec 2003. Games like BF 1942, family photos etc. look great on this monitor.

Let us know whether or not the 2001FPs you guys order in this round of discounts also has the "graininess" like those of us who ordered it in the first round late last year.

1280x1024 IS NOT 4:3. DO NOT USE THAT RES.

so what if it's not 4:3.
most 17, 18, 19" LCD's run at that resolution.
this 20" is capable of 16x12.

in response to your statement,
RUN YOUR LCD AT ITS NATIVE RES.

He was talking about running the 20" at 1280x1024, dummy. The 20" is 4:3. The dimensions wouldn't match.

Hey Guy's i have a question, Has anyone reading here ever purchase their Dell 2001FP off Ebay and needed to return it for the usuall issues? I want to know if Dell stood behind it. being it was purchased without a Dell system. because i wouldn't be in the Dell system as a former owner of a Dell system, I assume it would have at least 1 yr or upto 3 yr warrenty. I would prefer to buy one from Dell, so i was just wondering how their support was on the replacement of the monitor for Pixels or backlight problems when they see your not a system owner. Sometime ebay does have a good deal on a new one. Just have to watch their shipping charges.
Thanks

I got mine on ebay for about $840 shipped since I was too impatient to wait for this deal to come around again. Thankfully I've had no problems... but I'd go with this direct from Dell deal if I were you.

the 2001fp, samsung 213t, and the new 23 benq coming out... do any of them show true black? i'm trying to make a decision. it's i'm not liking the level of trade off for response time, screen door effect, true black... and prices too much... though not TOO bad. thanks ~

Buy it. The 2001FP kicks some serious ass. I had a 21" CRT and I enjoy the 2001FP a lot more. When I 1st got mine, the brightness was turned up to 100. I thought I was going to get a sunburn I use mine on a brightness setting of 35 and it's still plenty bright. It is razor sharp and the colors are great.

I work for SBC and supposedly SBC employees get a discount, does anyone know if it can be applied to a deal like this?

Gerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr,

I don't know what to do, I NEED a monitor now, but would really like to go with dual 18" Lcd's. Why can't those be 20% off?

I remember people getting 1800fp for ~$400 last year, haven't seen a deal like that in a long time.

got my 1800fp for ~$360 back then

I hope these keep going down in price though. Have a 20" NEC at work and would love to have something comparable at home.

edit: using below 1600x1200 does it look messed up? does everything have to run at that res for it to look right?

I have an 1800FP and I would just die for one of these. I am super jealous of anyone who has one or in the market for one. I got my 1800FP for $450 Shipped from a guy on this forum. I love it, but I know I would love a 2001FP better
