My god, please someone help! I got the 2001FP in January and everything seemed to be ok. However, when i started playing games such as KOTOR, BF1942, Counterstriker, etc. I get what i can only assume is ghosting. Everything looks pristine when i'm standing still but when i move the mouse around to look in different directions, everything because blurry for a second. In fact, even if i'm just on the desktop and i drag a window around, it goes blurry. I have tried EVERYTHING to fix this (including getting a replacement monitor) and can't find a resolution. I've tried reinstalling the drivers, playing with the display settings, using the the analog connection....everything. I know that i've seen multiple people say on here that they get no ghosting whatsoever, so i'm really wondering what the problem is.

I'm using it with a Radeon 9800 Pro through the DVI. I can post my other specs if needed. Thanks in advance.

Well, could be vid card drivers, and do you have it set to "Monitor Scaling" ?

Over the last 3 months i have probably reinstalled various vid driver over 30 times. I just can't believe the drivers are the problem as i've tried just about every version available to me.

What is "Monitor Scaling" and where do i set that?

Monitor Scaling is set in vid properties. Also, If I were you, I would get drive cleaner, and wipe out all the old vid drivers, and start fresh with the drivers, vid drivers have a tendency to save certain parts, and we all know windows gets confused easily.

If you mean "Scale image to panel size", yep, that's checked.

As for the drivers, about a month ago i formatted my drive and started from scratch just to be sure. No luck. I really don't think it's a drivers issue.

is there ANYBODY out there who uses the 2001FP with the Radeon 9800 Pro and has no ghosting problems?? If so, PLEASE let me know what drivers you are using and what your settings are.

Heh, your talking to em.... tho I did change to nvidia due to probs with the radeon. The panel size is not what you are looking for, Its under advanced I believe with the ATI, something to do with Use vid card scaling, or use monitor scaling. Not having any probs with my 2001fp.

I just ran Driver Cleaner again and installed the 6.14.0010.6430 driver build. (supposedly the latest) Didn't help. Oh and i've searched all through the Advanced section and didn't find anything called "monitor scaling" or "use vid card scaling". *cries*

Do you remember which driver version you were using with the 9800 Pro? Do you remember the settings?

All LCD panels will have increased ghosting when not set at their native resolutions. Try playing a game at the native 1600x1200 and see how it looks. I thnk you'll find that the ghosting goes away.

This is the main reason why I still use a CRT for gaming. Although I can play most of my games at 1600x1200, some of the newer games can't be played at that resolution on any current video card (6800u here I come!).

That's the exact reason I haven't taken the LCD plunge yet. I'm hoping ATI's next offering will be able to run at 1600x1200 with everything at least at medium settings, though. I'd love to get a LCD.

I totally agree, I've had the 2001FP on an ATI 9700 DVI connection since December and I have NEVER noticed event a hint of ghosting... I am currently playing through Far Cry and it is wonderful with zero ghosting.

Also, when it comes to gaming it does not matter what resolution you run at, it has NO effect on ghosting contrary to what was posted above. However, not running at the native resolution of the panel in 2D (your desktop) will greatly effect the image quality.

Good luck, I hope you figure out what is causing your issue. Do you have another video card you could try?

Next month, MaximumPC is supposed to be doing in-depth reviews on the Dell 2001FP and 2 other LCDs that they deemed "gaming worthy". I can tell you that they did really applaud the Dell 2001FP in this months issue, but there really wasn't anything specific on the monitor, just general impressions.

Yep, i have run games at 1600x1200 with everything turned down and it still ghosts. I don't understand what could be different about my machine vs others who aren't having problems.

Maybe your eyes are just real sensitive to ghosting.
