at least I did not notice them before.

I gota say one thing though the the samsung 712N the hot pixels were 4 times the size then they are on this monitor. You could hardly tell they are there...maybe because its a sIPS rather then a TN?

Go to this Website, download the utility, and run some tests using the utility. Dead Pixel Buddy

Man, I'm tempted to jump on the 2005FPW but also think I need to save up more money and get the 2405FPW. LOL

Hot pixel = a pixel that reads high on longer exposures
Dead pixel = a pixel that reads zero on all exposures
The stuck pixel will become evident @ higher temperatures. Most LCD's have them, but they are barely noticeable. I'd say let the monitor be ON for a few hours and then run DPB with the primary colors (and others if you already know the colors of your stuck/hot pixels). If you can notice those pixels clearly, go for an exchange. If the hot pixel is orange, it must become noticeable with a lighter background.

Yea...I did...that's the interesting thing about this monitor...the hot pixels(I have a light blue one, blue and a red) are very hard to notice unless you are < 5 inches from the screen. The pixels on this thing are .259 and on other LCDs they are .269 looks like it makes a difference...although numerically its small...?

Seems like everyone has problems with their LCDS, I bit and bought it today. What are my chances of getting a "perfect" LCD? Otherwise, I think I should cancel since I really wanted pay under $400..

Wait and see what you get...if you don't like it you have upto 3 chances to exchange. Still not satisfied? You will loose max $13.

The one I ordered for my pops arrived in 2 days. No backlighting, no dead pixels...but most importantly, he loves it!

Thanks again, OP.

Guys, sorry about the previous post on the Return Policy - most of us opt for Ground Shipping and it takes almost a week for one return cycle to complete. I was going over some of the policy terms on Dell's Return Policy. Turns out DELL begins counting the 21 days right from the day of the order (or the date on the Packaging Slip on the UPS box, which in most cases is identical to the date the order was placed on). So make sure you keep a track of the dates when returning.

If you pan and scan every inch of your monitor, you are bound to find at least one hot pixel. But in reality, are you going to watch something on this monitor from 5 inches away? LOL. Don't find faults that you can't even notice in the first place; no LCD will be perfect then. How many here would have actually looked for hot/stuck pixels if they weren't mentioned? Any LCD - even a Sony that is Made in Japan is bound to have atleast one hot pixel .
