I would say wait a while until Vista monitor HDCP copy protection requirements settle down and Dell's new monitors come out soon. The 2005FPW will take a huge price drop then.

But I guess for others starting their Christmas shopping early, this is a great deal as the price hasn't been this low since July. Great monitor nonetheless and you won't regret your purchase.

$334, $17 shipping, then 5% off using my Discover card = $333 shipped..


even if they arent "super" quality, this will be a good replacement for my ailing 21 " CRT that takes up my entire desk

Yes, but if you haven't actually applied for a resale number in your state, make sure you don't sell to someone in your state. Far as I understand it if you don't have a resale number and you sell it to someone in your state you can't legally collect sales tax but you are still liable for it anyhow.

these dells have been known for their quality and performance (won a shootout in a review done here at anandtech iirc)

anyhow, for the price, NOTHING comes close in size/shape/performance/quality

Well for those who have never used one keep in mind this monitor's size is like a 17" LCD that has been widened. So if you don't like your small fonts on a 17" @ 1280x1024 you won't like your small fontson this one either.

I like my 2005FPW, but for me small fonts look best on a 19" or of course a CRT..
