I rcvd mine yesterday . . . by surprise. Order status showed shipping date to be 12/5 and all of the sudden DHL is knocking on my door.

qvc was selling dell desktop with 24" lcd for $2260 and dell laptops for $1700, flipping the channels i saw hsn selling gateway desktop with 21" lcd for $1580 and laptops for $1500. both are dual core setups, only difference between the two is warranty.. something i dont care about anyways. last time i bought a gateway, first thing i was was format the hd.

Im Sooooo Bumed Dell shipped mine,and for some reason UPS sent it to the wiring house and allowed someone name Guitierrez to sign for it?? go figure

if you look at my profile youll see they made HUGE mistake :brokenheart:

so now I have to wait for Dell to track the package, then trace it, then MAYBE theyll ship me a new one, arrrrgh not so hot anymore when you have to wait two weeks for it

guess this why these deals are YMMV :laugh:

Nightmare. UPS should be the one responsible for this. At least UPS knows where they sent the package to. I wonder if Guiterirrez is commiting a crime by accepting it. He might say he thought the package is his, but after opening it a few hours later he should know it's not his.

Got my girlfriend to order one and ordered one for myself the day this deal blew open.

We got her monitor last Thursday. One dead pixel, but it's in a corner and tiny, so not a big deal.

My monitor came today, no idea why the time difference in delivery...

The lower right quadrant of the screen was "fuzzy" and had scan lines running through it. So it's defective. A disappointment, yes, but I'll get a replacement and my current monitor works, so it's fine for now. No dead pixels on the flaky screen, though.

I called Dell customer support... only waited in the queue for about 8-10 minutes.

Then spoke with a nice service rep named Bridget. She arranged for the flaky monitor to be picked up by UPS and has another 2005FPW on it's way to me at a replacement.

I've read some horror stories about Dell customer service, but this went very smoothly, so I wanted to share. It was nice to get everything taken care of so easily.

You can always rotate it so it will be a lot taller than it is wide.

it not only looks shorter, it is shorter. the 2005 is about the same height as a 17" LCD physically.

of course, pixel wise it is taller than a 19", which only does 1024 (26 pixels taller for those who suck at math)

how do you switch it to portrait mode? not physically, I know how to rotate the monitor. Is it supposed to switch automatically or do you change resolutions or what?
