Just received mine today... All I can say is WOW; the monitor is beautiful. I ordered on the 14th, it shipped on the 16th and arrived at my door this afternoon. I am using an eVGA 6800GT with the newest forceware drivers. Everything is running great. I briefly tried CS:S at 16:10 mode and the gameplay is better than ever. No FPS loss at the highest resolution and no ghosting (aim seems to be a bit different in widescreen but thats something I will adapt to). I will keep you all posted if I find any problems, but at this point I am extremely satisfied. Thanks again anandtechers!

Just fired mine up and It's an A01 made in april 2005. There are no dead pixels and one corner has very slight bleedthrough. Honestly I can't tell that it's there except on an all black screen and even then it's pretty light. I will use it for a couple days and see how I like it. My initial thoughts are WOW this thing is MF'n huge. It really is a nice display.

Ordered mine this morning and its shipped all ready. Got the warm fuzzy getting new toy feeling. Hopefully will win the A02 / No dead pixle lottery and get a good one.

I got mine yesterday and I dont have any stuck or dead pixels either. I didnt notice bleedthrough but what am I looking for? And how would I test it?

Also, anyone know how to calibrate it? This is my first lcd...

I ordered mine on the 17th and it got here today(19th). Rev. 02 May 2005. No backlight bleeding but I found one dead pixel, but other than that, the monitor is amazing. Watching HDTV on my ATI HDTV wonder is almost a whole new experience. The black bars are finally gone, and the picture quality is great(depending upon which signal you get of course).

Monitor test tool.

This program will run through various screens that will show any stuck or dead pixels. You can see the bleeding on the all black screen. It won't show up on the others.

everything else? perfect.

Ok...try this.
Take a stylus..and VERY GENTLY massage the dead pixel...like slowly rub it a couple of times.
I had one dead pixel, and it was gone.

Mine also came with the VGA cable attatched...What does this mean? Is it used or do they just leave it on when they test it?

Mine came w/ the VGA cable attached... Correct, i believe its used for testing.... I quickly swapped it for a DVI cable though, once i got the damn thing off, man they screwed it in tight...

Yes it was tight. I thought it was odd, but I hoped that they would not send out a return as a new one. Its good to hear I was not
the only one with it attatched. Thanks.

it was attached to moniotor because most of the people who buys Dell computers don't know well about the computers....

Dell probably thought that having the 'VGA' (which is used by most cheap Dell systems) cable connected to monitor will reduce the stuipd Techinical Support phone calls saying "which cable am i supposed to use?" or "I can't put my cable into these holes"

Mine came with VGA cable attached too, but never thought about it being 'used' one.

does anyone know about Dell's return policy with dead pixels and other stuff?

You have 21 days no question return/exchange policy from Dell. So, act soon, I'm not sure if that's 21 days from the date or ordering or receiving your LCD.

The important thing is not to be dissuaded by their tech. If you say the issue is dead pixels, they will remind you their company policy is only to guarantee 5 dead pixels or less.

That doesn't mean they won't accept the retun - they will ALWAYS accept a return for any reason if you are dissatisfied with it. It just means that they won't guarantee your replacement LCDs has any fewer dead pixels.

But, they do cover shipping both ways, so, as the example above went - a guy COULD send back and forth 5 LCDs before getting one he is completely happy with.

In the manual, it mentions that the VGA cable comes attached to the monitor. But yeah, I had to use a screwdriver to remove it.

Hi, I'm new to the forums, but I have some questions. I've seen a lot of people posting about 10% DPA, but I've never seen a code or coupon for that. Am I missing something? Also, does anyone know if those Big Bucks coupons will stack on this too?

I believe DPA stands for Dell Preferred Account.

Oh, sorry, I know what it is. I just want to know how I can get one!

Thanks, now i know what dpa means. people here seem to be constantly abreviating everything so if you don't keep up with it, like if you have a life, you can really get behind and not know what people are talking about.

by the way, what is a Dell 2005FPW? isn't everyone aware of the dell policy that when you return things that are defective that they have the right to replace as best they can with a used machine? ask them if you don't believe it. this applies regardless of how new the item is, so you're best off only buying brands other than dell from dell.
