I just got it, its Fing great. I know theres been other threads about this monitor, but thought i'd make a new one. For people who have it... What does the stand lock release button do? sorry it doesnt come with a manual. Does it lock the LCD onto the stand or locks the height adjustment of the stand?

Nevermind I figured it out about the stand lock, It confused me because i thought it would lock at any height... it seems it only locks when it close entire stand?

I do not see one dead pixel on mine, but i just got it and theres A LOT of rooms to examine
I cant comment about games really, I'm on a mac, heh. But the color/contrast/brightness is amazing.

But movies, forget about it! It's great, I can see a small group of people watching movies on it like a home theather.

If you have doubts, buy it anyway.
Even after the coupons this last week I still was hesistant to buy it, but now I'm glad.

Ok I just noticed on an all black screen there is backlight bleeding on my two top corners... now I know people have been replacing monitor after monitor trying to get a perfect one... but has anyone actually received one?? Or are people just returning it for an acceptable level of bleeding? Because right now i would love to get a perfect one but its not worth the trouble if its going to take several returns just to find a perfect one as its not really a problem

and how do you figure out when this LCD was made?

I know the 2005fp is a good buy. But has anyone looked at the HP L2335. Its bigger, 23" - 16ms - 1920x1200 and supports native component video connections for ~ $1500 bucks. I know it more but if I'm not planing on upgrading again any time soon, would this be a better buy.

That's almost 3x as much as what I paid for the 2001FP.

There's a thread at ocforums. Some guy over there has both 2001FP and 2005FPW and he took lots of pictures. Unfortunately I don't have a direct link.

The HP L2335 is a sweet looking monitor, it uses the same panel as the Apple Cinema display, so it's a really good quality panel. It's undoubtedly a better monitor than the 2005FP, but whether the value is better is another thing.

I personally have 3 15" Dell 1504FP, and to be honest, I really don't want to change my setup one bit.

The biggest problem with those big LCD's is you can't play any games at the native resolution with any kind of decent framerates, unless you have a dual 6800 Ultra SLI setup.

Haha.

Of course the L2335 is a better panel. Twice the price.. TRIPLE if you got a good deal on the 2005fpw.

I bought two 2005fpw displays for video editing and I can't get the Matrox G450 card to run in the native 1680x1050.... I've installed the dell inf file and the latest drivers for the G450, but the closest it'll go is 1600x1024, Any ideas?? I've been thinking to getting the Matrox Parhelia 256.. I'm using them for video editing. Que?

For that much money, you might as well go all the way and get a LCD HDTV.

There should be a white sticker that has the month and year of when it was manufactured on the back of the monitor.

Well the 2005fp is based of the same LG panel as the 20" Cinema display, or very close..

i have this monitor and use it for playing HL2, unreal tournament 2004 and love it, but it does seem a little bright for MS word and excel. This is a great buy for anyone who wants a great monitor for gaming and movies.
