Re: shipping - I orderd mine yesterday @ 3:15. They said it would ship in 3-5 days, so I was prepared to wait. Got the shipping notice today at 7:15am. Tracking number is active. Can't wait.

Do ALL of these monitors have a color banding issue?

I'm pretty sure no one can answer that difinitively unless they're in Dell's manufacturing or QC division. Currently, they're testing to see if they do in fact "ALL" do it... or even if a statistically significant portion do.

There are some who have reported that they only have minor color banding, and really only when they are right up close to the screen looking for it. Ther is no real definitive way to tell if one person's minor color banding would be unbearable to someone else.
I have seen a few screen shots however that seem to look absolutely unaccpteble for a $400 monitor. If it was only $199, then there would not be near as much complaining.

Where can you get if for $322?

I can get it shipped from Dell for $345 after tax and $35 coupon. But just because it's on sale doesn't mean it's not a $400+ monitor.

I'd like to assume that they've stopped production on the original A00 version and are just abusing the 22nd anniversary as an excuse to clear out their inventory while they fix the issue and apply it to the assembly line for the revised A01's...but I may be assuming wrong.

Btw, the banding issue has been a confirmed issue on the dell thread and so it seems it's on all current 2007's, but the amount of banding varies. I think the official post was deleted as to not make too big of a scene and have it spread to the common buyer. Someone screenshotted it though and posted a link of the message a page or 2 later somewhere in the thread (I don't know if <that> got deleted though). Also, there's other reports of jittery pixels and fuzzy text with the 2x07's I believe. An official announcement will be made on the Dell thread I think sometime on Friday of the progress the Dell engineers have made so far on the banding issue; hopefully the other problems as well.

I hope ... atlhough I got the 2007FP w/ a comp for $ 549. Nothing much to complain, but the screen looks nice after watching a few movies :thumbsup:

I have two 2005 fpw's and 1 2007 wfp, and all three are great monitors. I never understood the 2005 backlight issues, and the 2007 banding is unapparent in my usage.

I rate the 2005's at a 97, and the 2007 at a 93 (only because I prefer the color shade of the 2005's, for instance the 2007 has a brighter blue).

I think if you want a 20 inch wsDell, just buy one, and return it if you don't like it.

I also own the 2007wfp, and like it very much. Banding is only evident when I use the banding/gradiant check utility. Otherwise, when I'm playing games (mostly FPS), I don't notice it all.

I ordered mine around 7PM on Thursday. It is arriving today whenever the UPS truck makes its rounds in my neighborhood. I honestly thought I wouldn't get it until this upcoming friday at the earliest.

Just played through the first bit of HL2 (to where Gordon gets to the laboratory) and didn't notice any banding there either.

Hooked up via DVI to a 6600GT (yeah, I'm behind the times )

On the dell forums the moderator said that they are working on some type of firmwire fix and we should have a answer by friday... I just hope that offer doesnt expire.

I also was considering this monitor, but the tax and handleing fees in adition to the mention of the use of a non- S-IPS panel in some monitors plus banding turned me off a bit so I looked around and found this:

Same panel as the good versions of this dell and the old 2005 I think. AND! it costs less.... No svideo or composite in if that's important to you.

Contrast ratings are all different, its the same panel as the dell therefore its the same as the dell pretty much if DVI is used.

Dell posted a firmwire fix well rather they posted that they have the fix and anyone that needs it needs to PM the moderator.
