Doh! My 2005FPW cost me $359 + tax back in August 05. They must be pretty cheap now. Damn technology.

Same for my upgrade in Jan/Early Feb of this year. One month later and I could've nearly gotten an Opty 165 for the same price I paid for my 146. Then the 7900GT comes out and uber pwnz my 7800GT I just paid $270 or so for (and I threw away the box, so no step up for a reasonable fee).

I just paid $212 for a Razr V3c (WITH a 2yr contract too! need to send out the $100 rebate, but 3 months is a pretty long wait for such a large amount) which is free for most providers but in a non-metro area I guess that's what you got to pay.

Did the firmware/driver update take care of the banding and fuzzy text problem for anybody? I'm thinking about buying this but don't want to until it's working well.

The firmware fix referenced above is not longer available (forum post has been deleted) and it has been replaced by a stick post (Link) that says all returns will be honored regardless of 21 day limit and that the flash can only be performed by the mfg in China. Once the flashed pannels are in the US then the return process will begin but there is no schedule at this time of when.

Anyone want to bet if the new purcahses will be from the flashed inventory (not piss of new customers) or from the old (see how many the can get away with)

Anyone know what is Faroudja?

From Dell Forum for those to lasy to click link.

Sorry for the long wait. We do have a fix in place. Dell has a firmware update that adjusts the ACC (Adaptive Color and Contrast) & ACM (Active Color Management) features, eliminating the banding issue when using the Desktop mode. All of these monitors have three display modes: Desktop, Multimedia and Gaming. The firmware turns off Faroudja video processing in Desktop mode. It remains enabled in the other two modes. Essentially, the updated firmware allows users to choose whether they want the Faroudja video processing feature on or off. I understand your time is valuable.

The factory in China is working overtime to flash the monitors. This flash cannot be done at your home. They will get them to our hubs as fast as they can. Once they are in the hubs, our dispatchers will start processing the exchanges. I cannot give you any definitive time or dates on when they will get to the hubs. Please be patient. Also, you needn't worry about the 21 day policy on returning or receiving a new monitor. All exchanges for this issue will be new.

The next question many of you had was how the actual exchange process works.

1. I gather your shipping, monitor, etc. information
2. That data is put into a spreadsheet for the dispatchers
3. The dispatchers setup the exchange
4. The monitor and a return airbill are shipped to you
5. Place the old monitor into the box that the new monitor shipped in
6. Attach the return airbill to the box
7. Call the number on the return airbill to arrange for pickup

If you have the banding issue, please private message me the following information (do not post your information publicly):

Complete name of person to contact:
Complete shipping address:
Daytime phone of contact:
Order number:
Monitor serial number:
Reason: Need flashed monitor due to banding issue

I dont think you will notice banding when playing games. I think it would be highly annoying when you are working in photoshop though, which is why i wont be buying this monitor.
