Thought about selling my 2001 and 2005 to get this, but I think I'll stick with dual monitor goodness.

it is physically possible to push a HD-video signal down a dvi cable and have it properly display on this monitor, but HD-DVD's won't work as the cable connector must be compliant with some crappy encryption standard which this is not.

I am looking to get a Dell 2405 monitor.

According to BFG Website the max res using DVI is 1600 x 1200.

The native resolution is of the Dell LCD is 1920x1200.

Anyone out there running this card with a higher resolution that 1600x1200 using DVI????

This will be an expensive monitor if I have to upgrade my video card too.

I am currently running a BFG 6800 GT with Apple CinemaDisplayHD 23" at 1920x1200 with no problems except the annoying BIOS bug. Otherwise, everything is great.
My previous card was a BFG 5950 Ultra, ran the same monitor at 1920x1200 with no problems at all.
The card before that was a MSI GeForce4 Ti 4600, even that was able to run 1920x1200 using the DVI.

I am going to destroy my Dell card when I get home, to remove temptation.
Especially when I got my 2001FP with that card not TOO long ago.

plus, I want reviews.
My biggest concern, other than pushing the pixels, is backlight consistency.

Really the only thing the 2001FP had me hedging on.
I'm used to it now, but heard problems with the 2005, etc...

nuts.

E.G. I don't get to see my BIOS screen or my POST...
In fact, the monitor doesn't even turn on until it loads Windows, but once it gets into Windows everything is fine.

1: Its PVA panel.... The reponse time curves for those don't look pretty...it might be 12ms...but only at the extreme ends of the curve.

20 inch 4:3 ha 1.92 million

that means you video card will have to do 30% more work. With super sampling based FSAA.....then it will be even worse.

You will seriously need a SLi card to drive it at such high resolutions... 2 x 6800GT PCIe + a SLi MOBO + a fast A64 don't come cheap...

The driver compabtablity of SLI isn't really that good.

so..Its probabaly not a good idea to get one for gamming.

1680x1050 is more stressing on a video card than 1600x1200 in my tests. pixels isnt all that matters.

I currently run a 6600GT and drive a 23" HP L2335 and a 19" CRT at the same time. Not a huge gamer but I can play Far Cry at 1920x1200 while checking email on my other monitor.

2405FPW is now listed for sale at $1079.10. I searched for coupons, just didn't find any and I didn't want to wait so I just ordered one. Supposed to ship in 1-2 weeks, which in my experience can be sooner. I'll post my opinion after I get it and can play around with it.

There is a new $75 off stackable coupon available for this. I canceled and reordered since they don't like to just do simple refunds or credits (even to their own Dell preferred accounts).
