Lowest price I've seen these.

SB charges delivery, but there's a deal where 3 day shipping is free @ Home.

The 2405FPW's were going for $750 or so a year ago. So, barring a price mistake, I doubt they'll get below $650.

I've read some mixed reviews about these. Supposedly they had some bad banding issues which were fixed in their A03 revision but I haven't heard much about whether this was the case or not. That's the only reason I have kept my self from pulling the trigger on one of these. Still, if they are anything like the 2405's then $680 is a pretty good deal.

My 2007 had some banding (A01) and Dell swapped it for an A02 and the banding is MUCH better (not noticeable under normal use, actually). They offered the same swap deal for the 2407s (they cross ship, too!).

Been waiting to buy a 2407 for a while now. Figured it won't get much lower than this and if it does, it will be maybe 20 bucks tops so I sucked it up and got one tonite. It was $714 last nite.

As for $500... if it ever hits that, you'll hear the cries of a thousand e-Bayers.

I'm torn between this and the new BenQ 24" model with 1080p support and HDMI. With tax , the difference is only about $75.

I got my 2405fpw about 9 months ago for $630 but it was a YMMV kind of deal. I guess this is as good a price as your probably going to get.

Wish I could afford it. My dream was either a 2405/2407 but I needed other stuff.
IMO, I think I found a solution. Costco has a sale this Oct 19, on 22" Sceptre and Viewsonic LCDs. For $349 less a $50 coupon, you can get either for $299. What makes this deal super is that Costco's shipping is included.
I've checked them out online and the specs are amazing.
Well, the next step is comparing them to the 2407 at Costco, at the same time.
One could pickup two for the price of the Dell. Very interesting........

This is actually fairly standard, that is, having a "lower resolution" LCD be half the price of the next higher one. The main difference is that there's now a squished lower end- 20" (or 22", same resolution) LCDs are going for $300, but a 17-19" might go for $150-200. For reference, the 30" LCD is currently available for ~$1450, which is a little more than double the 24" price, which is around double the 20-22" price.

Of course, if you want any of this to feel cheap, keep in mind that until the 2405fpw, the cheapest price on a 23-4" LCD was upwards of $1500, and that the 2000fp once retailed for $1200.

$679 is as good as it gets. I doubt it'll ever go below than this.
Damn, 2nd dual-view? Tempting...

I doubt we'll see the 2407WFP at $500 this year, but I can easily see it dipping to $600 at least once before Christmas, and maybe several times. I bought one in mid-August from Dell Home when the list was $879. But after a 25%-off coupon, a 2% Dell Preferred Account discount and a 3% Fatcash kickback, my final delivered price was $626 w/free shipping (and no tax--I'm in one of the few remaining states where Dell doesn't charge tax).

But sadly it was all for naught. My revision A02 monitor had glaring defects: grossly uneven backlight, color banding, and bizarre yellow-green ghosting of text while scrolling. Other than that, the picture looked great. Rev. A03 displays were out by the time I RMA'ed it, and I asked that my return be exchanged for one of those. But Dell shined me on on that one and instead returned my money.

I haven't been keeping up of late with the consensus on A03 quality issues, but I know there have at least been some. I'm sure there's plenty of good and current info at Dell's forum.

1600/1200 lower resolution? You can always spend more for whatever, but IMO, you should check these 2 LCDs at Costco.

Sceptre 22"

Mmmm, that 22" WS Sceptre is delicious....and tempting...hotter than the 24" Dell imo, especially with the costco return policy.

Ignoring all the banding, backlighting issues, teh image is just not as good as a good monitor. I picked my Viewsonic VP191b over a 2405 that I bought. Gave the 2405 to my parents.

Certainly it's a "lower resolution." The two above screens, despite being 22" are still the same resolution as the 2005/7fpw. That's not to say that they're bad, but my point was that higher resolution screens are generally 2x or more the price of lower resolution screens, and that price is independent of actual size- i.e., at this point (although not always), there's not a huge difference between 17" and 19" screens in price, despite the fact that they're both generally 1280x1024.

Well i just wanted to see how much this new one would cost me. I purchased my 2405 about 1 yr ago.. and paid a total of 843.52 since i live in TX i paid for killer TAX.
the total price when i tried to checkout with the monitor 2407 was $735.18. So about 100 bucks difference. And it was free shipping.

I would say that if i didnt have to pay tax of $56.03 i would get another one just because i love this monitor and the added contrast and look would make me happy.
Then again i dont need another one and i can wait till i really need it or the price becomes so darn cheap i have to get another one as my TV/Monitor

I don't get why don't you guys add the 20% off instead of using the given 15% off? That would make it $640 before tax.

I used the 20%, and an additional 4% off for PDA. With the money I saved, I just added 2 more years of warranty. Came out to be $700 including tax shipped.

Ordered on Sunday, got it on Wed. morning. Loving every bit of it so far.
