Thanks for the Amex rewards tip. I checked and found that I have 40,000 points
--good for $400 off. So for a net cost of $308 plus CA sales tax, I can't resist.

The monitor is kinda nice, but its not without its issues. Many have complained about banding with DVI and poor picture quality under the component connections.

Nice find OP.

I don't think this LCD will fit on an overhead projector. You'll need a laptop screen.

According to the Amex Rewards website, these $50 GCs can only be redeemed one per order. I haven't tried it myself, but I would assume that you could only knock $50 off the price using the Amex Rewards. If you can do more, let us know!

I'm talking about the Amex Rewards which gives "points", not dollars. You can use the points to buy crap (including gift certificates to Dell and various other retailers for 1000pts = $10), but they have no cash value. I think the "points" rewards are for personal cards while the dollar rebates are for business cards, but I'm not sure about that.

The Amex Rewards Program for personal cards makes possible the issuance of
10000 and 5000 points "coupons" valued at $100 and $50 blocks, useable in the
purchase of qualifying Dell products. Amex will issue as many Dell "coupons"
as your points total will allow, but the catch is that Dell will only accept one per order:
one $100 coupon per system purchase, one $50 max. coupon allowed per monitor purchase.

Oh Well.... But you can redeem 250,000 pts outright for an Apple 23" Cinema.

Thanks guys. Snagged a $45 off $400 coupon and jumped on this tonight. Have been waiting for a widescreen for quite a while now, and couldn't wait any longer.

the 2407 sucks, I returned mine for a refund. There are still heavy banding issues in some of them.

Hmm, I know people with $200,000 in the bank and $20,000 checks in their hands who have issues spending this much on a monitor...

Here is the FW post that should explain it all, including how to get the extra coupon:

Link

DPA is the Dell Preffered Account, or Dell's line of credit. The only reason I have it is because you can get an extra 2% discount by paying with it.

FC is Fat Cash, which is available when you follow the link to Dell's website found on Fatwallet and are a Fatwallet member. You can sign up for free and it is a great little program to earn some extra bucks. Dell Home is worth 3% Fat Cash.

what is the advantage of this dell over the westinghouse LCD TV as a monitor? Anything?

700 bux for 24 inches seems sucky right now

First off, the link you gave is to the 32" viewsonic lcd tv. Second, the resolution is the difference. The 37" westy, which i have, has a 1366x768 max resolution. The 2407 has a max res of 1920x1200. So unless you are getting a 1080p TV ( which will run $1500+) there is big difference.

The Dell sales Rep mispelled my name and the shipping address. It took 2 hrs and few calls to get that fixed!. I wish the changes get reflected soon.

Got mine $702.63 shipped, incl. tax. Once I found a good $45 off $400 coupon I jumped on it. Just put the order in, though I might cancel it. It's $750 at Costco including shipping, but that's not including tax, so I'm trying to decide if it's worth it. If I get it from Costco, I could get a full refund or exchange basically anytime I wanted, I think it's for 3 years?? Suggestions on what I should do?
