AFAIK, the FX5600 should be fine to display that resolution. Hell, I was even using an ancient Geforce 1 to power a 1680x1050 resolution not too long ago. Looked crisp/fine to me.
Anyways, if the tab shows as a "plug and play" monitor of "generic monitor" (or something to that degree) that may very well be your problem. I wouldn't know for sure, of course, since I don't own this LCD, but try checking into that. I know some monitors NEED to have drivers installed for the correct resolutions to be unlocked, while other monitors are spiffy with any/generic/windows drivers.
Took you advice but still the same result.
My monitor indeed was getting displayed as generic plug and play in the setting display tab. So i updated the drivers using the ones that came in the CD with the monitor.
Now its displaying Dell 2407 LCD properly. But the amx resolution i can set is still 1600 x 1200.
I am now thinking that this monitor must be defective.
The only other thing that remians to be done is to connect this monitor in a single monitor setup and try using both the VGA and DVI interfaces to see if can get it to display 1920 x 1200.
Next step would be to swap the Graphics card and use the 256 MB version on GeForce 5600.
The next step would be to return it to costco.
