I got used to using 24" iMacs at work, so I finally bought a 2408WFP for home. I've had a hard time getting used to it with Windows because it might be too-high resolution for me. Does anybody have this same issue? Right now I'm back on a 19" ViewSonic at 1440x900 which feels a lot more comfortable.

It might take a little time, but when you do get used to it, you won't want to go back . How close are you sitting anyways?

I might not actually be sitting close enough. I think I used to sit closer to the iMac, but also Apple does some resolution scaling wizardry in their OS.

I'm also disappointed with the quality. I bought two of them (found out I really only need one), and one of them has a non-aligned picture. It's just slightly tilted one way. The other monitor has three grey spots in the middle of the screen, they seem bigger than dead pixels but I can't seem to get rid of them. I am the king of unlucky!

if text is too small, you could have gotten one 2709WFP instead... same resolution, but 27".

I don't get it, 24" iMacs are 1920x1200 too. If text is too small up the DPI.

Also, get replacements for both those units. They should be flawless.

If the display is bigger and the resolution stays the same, wouldn't that mean bigger text ?

yeah, that is my point. text is bigger, however pixelation is more visible.

as for display problems, are you using VGA cable or DVI?
i find it next to impossible that you have 2 bad units in a row.

Change the font/icon size and things will be fine. You'll appreciate the extra resolution when you are looking at pictures or watching HD movies.

Try getting glasses or putting the monitor farther away from you, or turn the resolution down. Use windows magnifier tool if you have to.

i have a 1080p 23" LCD and love it, I just make sure to use 14pt fonts for most everything and Im fine.

I also sit a little better than 2 feet away from the monitor most of the time.

^^^ what he said.

Or go into your display options and change the DPI (font size) so that default fonts/icons are larger.

You should just give yourself a couple weeks to get used to the resolution. You're used to the bigger icons on the iMac, but you will adjust.

The pixel density (pixels per square inch) is almost exactly the same as your 19" screen - just a tiny bit higher. For a 19" 1440X900 resolution screen, that's 89 pixels per square inch; for a 24" at 1920x1200, it's 94 pixels per square inch. That means that all of your icons and text will be a mere 5.6% smaller.

I have dual 2408WFPs and it took me a while to get used to it, but I love them now. I go into work and use my dual 1680x1050 monitors and feel claustrophobic trying to work. When I'm doing casual stuff, yeah, I really only use one monitor. But I use both of them most of the day when I'm working at home, or video editing, or other more-involved-than-browsing type of stuff.

WinSplit Revolution (or the like) is a god-send.

For gaming, and movies the resolution is perfect. For multitasking, spreadsheets and overall usability it is great. Though I can see older eyes having trouble~

As it is now I just got it(moved from a 2493HM from samsung which I hated) and can already tell the different between the S/PVA panel and TN panel. Even my eyes are enjoying it, they are far less strained oddly enough since theres less color change and dark spots.

Only thing that irks me is the monitor seems to be slanted slightly right due to the ability to go into portrait mode. It is alot more stable and easier to adjust than the samsung but still noticeable.
