Dell 3007WFP-HC
$799 (9 left as of 8:38AM 06-26-09)
http://outlet.us.dell.com/ARBO...0Panel%20Monitor&s=dfb

OOS but was considering this also but it's TD so I'm very unsure...

Gateway XHD3000 30" (TigerDirect)
$649.99
http://www.tigerdirect.com/app...0yfCnJsD2b6veeoAcU3Anw

I check daily for these monitors at Dell's outlet and today they have quick a list of refurbished monitors. They just updated it as last night the list was 0 for 24"+ LCDs. I have two already that's been great with no defects. I'm grabbing another one IF i can find a coupon to bring it down. $799 is the regular outlet price but on rare occasions they'll reduce it to $699. Not sure if I can wait before they run out though.

Edit: Added Gateway in case in comes back in stock
Edit: 9 left as of 8:38AM 06-26-09

That's less than 2405 that I bought 3 years back.

I'd be all over this deal if it wasn't for the heat. From what I understand these monitors run hot enough to heat up a small room, so I'll have to wait for one with LED backlighting, whenever they become available.

Nice deal. I really like Dell's larger monitors. They are a great value and are of very high quality. Also, it's worth mentioning that the 27" and 30" monitors at the Dell outlet come with a 3-year warranty.

I have both a 2408WFP and a 2209WA.

While I don't have the exact temperature values, I have one in my living room and another in my bedroom and both don't produce enough heat for me to notice. My laptop produces more noticeable heat from its side than the LCD The one in the living room is running 24/7 along with my TV. I have screensaver Dream Aquarium on

It does get fairly hot, but it's really not that bad in my opinion, at least with the brightness at about 30-50%. I would guess that my actual computer puts out considerably more heat.

Wow, for $699 it would be VERY hard to resist.

I've also ran checks on ebay to compare prices and they're hardly any used ones and the new ones are still expensive. The only one used on there was just posted and starting bid is at $600. Maybe you see more of the same LCD than I do? I'm using search string "Dell 3007." If so, post a link please. Thanks.

I would have one of these now to replace my 2408 but I went with a 42" LCD 1080 tv instead. You only lose a little resolution but gain lots of space and they are cheaper too. Gaming is awesome.

Jumped on this, upgrading from my dual 24". May end up going the route of getting 2 20" 2007FPWs in portrait mode next to this beast.

Ammocan, by only lose a little resolution... you mean about half.

2560 x 1600 = 4,096,000 pixels
1920 x 1080 = 2, 073,600 pixels

Although I agree with the gaming comment. You do not really need the 30" resolution to enjoy a game and with the TV you can sit back on your couch and game.

However, if you need lots of desktop real estate... have tons of windows open at once... double the pixels can make a difference.

I am so tempted... I work with a 24" and a 19" side by side right now.

I have a2709w now, but I use the functionality the 2709w has the 3007 does not have (2 DVI, 1 HDMI, Display Port, component). If they would only lower the price on the 3008...

Maybe this isn't the right place for it, but what does the actual software for this monitor do? Ive been reading reviews and because of no OSD, the software controls the monitor... is this available for OSX or any alternative?

I can live with only one DVI, but at the same point, having to load up windows to change something would be a major pain..

FYI it's the 20" 4:3 aspect ratio ones are the ones you want to match up to the 30", not the 20" widescreen ones.

(Dell 2007FP is the one you want)

With the cost of those though, you might as well get two 3007s.

20" Wide screen in Portrait ... 90 degree rotation line up perfectly..

20-30-20 is a pretty standard setup these days

Except then you're stuck with a bezel right in the middle of your workspace.

The triple setup lets you have the middle of the 30" as the natural center.

I have the 20/30/20 setup on a parabolic Ergotron arm. Works quite nicely.

30"
2560x1600

20" 4:3
1600x1200

20" 16:10
1680x1050

The 4:3 ones are the monitors that match up better

Penth's 3007 and 4:3 2007FPs

EDIT:

Not sure on that S2009W spec. It's based on specs posted in Hot Deals threads since I couldn't find the model immediately on the Dell site. Most of the widescreen 20" models fit the 1680x1050 spec.

Yup, I was almost about to begin daydreaming about a 24/30/24 setup but you're right, a nice large 4:3 display on each side would probably look "cleaner." Besides, I'd probably only really need/want widescreen on the center display.

Yeah, if you want something larger than the 20/30/20, then you should go with the al gore 30/30/30

Right, I meant the 2007 non-widescreen. Won't be doing it yet, but at some point I'll get some of the 2007's off of ebay or such, seems like the going rate is the mid-100s, which is definitely cheapter than another 3007. Also, one of the things that does currently annoy me about dual 24" is the bezel in the middle, as has been mentioned already.
