the cable will be come already attached to your monitor. I dont know why they do it, but its plugged in the back already. and it has a big yellow sticker, DUAL LINK DVI, do not use any other cable.

hope that helps

Dude, do NOT pay $120 for that. You might as well go over to BB or CC and pay them if you feel like you want to spend that much for a dual link DVI.

I honestly don't know if that monitor comes with the cable or not. I'd say any retailer that tells you you have to buy their cable is suspect right from the get go. I returned a DVI cable to BB after I bought my 213T from them and the sales dork told me that , "yeah" I needed to buy one.

I suspect that for that kind of green, you're getting one in the box. If not, I'd be hot.

If you DON'T get one for that money, go to cablesforless.com and buy from them. Take a Franklin off the price and that is roughly what you pay at cablesforless. I buy from them always, unless I am in need like RIGHT now.

SRY dude, that is just it, way i speak, it isn't nearly as bad when you hear it said though, hope that is some solace.

I just found out yesturday that this guy downstairs of my dorm works at the apple store and gets 25% off on online sales, which means he can get me the apple 30" display for 1500. which is about the same as the dell 30"

Do you guys think i should go for the APPLE one? Cuz it's nicer looking, i'm just not sure if i can compare the specs, as i don't really trust the ones posted by either DELL or APPLE. And since they're the only 30" with 2560 x 1600 i guess i don't have much of a choice anyhow..

UR thoughts:::

I just checked cable for less, the cable they have says the res goes up to 2048 X 1536 dual link, so does that work for the 2560x1600???

They are the exact same panel quality wise.

Here is what you should make your decision on:
The apple looks better (design) but you cant see the POST.
The Dell looks nice (not as good as the apple) but it does everything.

For me this pretty much solved the problem, I knew I would not stand having to use an extra monitor to get into the bios (and since I OC a lot I go in there a lot). The Dell does everything, and I can live without the Apple aesthetics (not that the Dell looks bad, for gods sake its a beauty of a panel).

Haven't looked recently but I thought the Dell has slightly better specs even though they use the same panel (firmware maybe?). I'd get the Dell because a) Apple is more expensive (Dell will go on sale if you watch), b) Not being able to get into BIOS is unacceptable and a huge pain the ass c) I don't like Apple because of said restriction.

The Dell comes with a dual link DVI cable, it is attached to the monitor already, do not buy one.

Alright man, for keeping a cool head, I have a $350 off coupon for that Dell 3007WFP LCD, which brings the price down to ~$1350. I'm not going to use it and I think it's still good so PM me if you're interested.

YO, AIght guys, I ordered it on the 12th, and its shipped now. COMING TUESDAY>>> WHooopy. wonder if it'll be a big change from my 20" WS. and how exactly do I get a HD-DVD to play on this thing?? or connect an xbox. IS there a VGA to DVI adapter that I use for the Monitor.

I think I might need a switch box as well, something that'd support dual link DVI and VGA / what not.

does this work

Any VGA to DVI adaptor will work. You should have gotten one with your video card.

Wow it will be a huge change from your 20inch, you have no idea. Now, about HD DVD... hmm Im assuming you have an table top player like Toshiba's or RCA but I dont know why you would want to use that monitor to watch a 1280x720 signal. It will display on a 4:1 pixel scale so you will seeing 1/4 of the resolution of that panel.

I sincerely hope thats not what you bought it for!

I got 2x DVI to VGA with my card, non the other way around. I bought the monitor to do choping and 3d Cad. I was thinking about games, but honestly i can't concieve 60fps at that resolution even with crossfire.

And u guys are sure the converter i linked to above will work??

My hd-dvd has the hdmi thing , and i was going to watch the 1080 P stuff on this monitor, but i wasn't sure if the hdmi to DVI adapter will work..

I'm just not sure if this monitor accepts all these signals. and isn't 1080p on my monitor 2:1 pixel?

from like more than 3 feet u can't tell really can u?

Oh yea, i need a good switch box for DVI and VGA stuff, and i'm guessing it has to support dual link as well.

You cannot "adapt" a VGA signal to become DVI. Those DVI-VGA adapters that come with graphics cards merely let you use the analog signal that is present on a DVI-I output jack anyway.

Toolius, I think you should go ahead and call them. Even though they do not list the 3007 on their site, even the 2407 that is listed (and which I bought) had to imported from Malaysia. It's not like they have stock locally.

(For the kind of money you'd have to pay for a 30", I'd get a couple of 20" or 24" and run a dual-monitor setup, but that's because I don't game a whole lot. Lots of development/photo editing/reading articles here for which I find this kind of screen estate useful. Just a thought, and there's absolutely no reason you've got to subscribe to it. )

By the way, I don't see what kind of a problem you could have tweaking your motherboard's BIOS if you run an Apple display. You're not running an Apple box. You're just using their display, which is like any other display in terms of how it connects to a PC.

Some LCDs have trouble displaying the boot sequence (including CMOS setup), but I'm not sure why.

wow.. thanxx appu.. that was a lot of help... i will call them too.. as for the bios bit... have read lots of places that the 30 inch apple Hd is picky about graphic cards.. some people dont have any issues at all and some cant see anything until the Welcome screen comes up in windows xp.. that is what i am scared off.. have a sapphire x1900xtx and i really want to see my bios and system post also before windows starts up. im just worried about fixing bios problems or anything that would make me get into the bios and me having to plug in another monitor to setup my system . i mean its do-able but id rather not.. so was looking for help with the apple display.. ill call dell too. thanxxx again
P.s the apple 30 inch is available in bombay for 1,15,000 Rs . (1.15 lakh). so am hoping that the 30 from dell is also similarly priced... cause right now the dell 24 is going for 38,000 on the website... thanx again for the help...

Will the 30" dell accept the analog signal at all??? that is waht i'm asking, because it is dual link. like will it give me a picture with the analog from my xbox 360 if i use a VGA TO DVI converter, not converter boxxx, just converter.

And definitly get the 30 inch, 24" is nice, but it's still not the same in terms of watching a movie. Yes you may get better screen "estate" but for movies, One screen is best. unless you have 2 projectors hooked up and VLC broadcasting from 2 comps. that's BOSS.
