Dell 3100CN

Anyone have any experience with this printer? Dell SB has this for 40% off and free shipping. Reading the reviews the only negative is the lack of memory that comes standard. Looking at the memory, it appears to be standard laptop memory, unless I am missing something.

I have the similiar 3000CN and have been pleased with it so far. I think the 3100 adds the ablility to use longer lasting toner carts and PostScript, but besides that they are pretty much the same. B&W is really fast.

Funny I was a beta tester for one of these and it preformed great. The only problem I found was with the drivers but I dont know if they corrected the issue.

The Problem:
Printer was configures on a Windows 2003 server.
When printing from a Windows XP workstation if the printer was off the print job would be lost.
For some reason it didnt queue in the 2003 server. No its not Windows because my HP didnt have that problem.

But that is no reason not to pick up the printer.

A little late for the good deal...I just recieved the 3100cn. Yes it is standard 133mhz sodimm memory. I will probably put a 512chip in my laptop and use the 256 that is in it to up the printer memory.

The printer is good. A little heavy but it isn't too bad once you get it unboxed. I would say the printer itself without the standard paper tray is 50-60 lbs.

At $354 shipped it is definately best in class of all the printers I looked at. Most of the rest had either shady toner use, no ethernet, and not Postscript.

Setup was nothing at all, it even self configured on my network. Installed the drivers, set to Standard TCP/IP printer with Generic Card and it was up and running.

Even at the regular price of $500 or so it would beat the others out there.
