dell 4550 cpu questions

Hi everyone,

I have a dimension 4550 and was looking to upgrade. My first question is, is it possible to get another motherboard into this case/configuration?

My second question is, if i can't fit another board in, what are the possible cpu upgrades for this board? i know about the 3.06 ghz northwood, but that is WAY expensive. are there any cheaper upgrades than that?

BTW...i'm looking to make this rig playable for world of warcraft...and that's pretty much about it.

3.06HT = EoL = most expensive by a large margin.

2.8/533 and 2.66/533's can be found for less than $50 on eBay. Quick fast solution if you have something thats sub 2GHz.

i used to have two 4550's.

3.06 is the fastest, you can put another board in there, i know the baord from a dell 4600 will work in it, it will take a fater than 3.06 in it.

i would recommend the 2.8 533mhz to put in it. for you, best bang for the $$, and only 206 mhz or so slower, not much of a notcieable difference. my 4550 did everythign i need/wanted it to do, only got rid of them when i went to HTPC's.
