HP/Compaq just came out with a couple of laptop that I would consider competitors.

They're a little larger, but battery life and IMO better looking. And they cost less. Crappy integrated video though (I believe the 700m is the same). CNet has a review of the dv1000. Funny how they complain about the integrated video on it, and don't complain about the one on the 700m.
