Last time I ordered a "Dell" hard drive, it was a Western Digital.

If the Seagate Barracuda is still available for around the same price, I highly recommend that one.

Looks like an IBM, but i think they made a mistake on the seek time, should be 8.5. If not, it is not worth the time and money you will spend waiting for it to come 2 months later. You can spend $90 and get it in 2 days from other vendors for the same drive (IBM). I am willing to bet this is all of the back ordered hd's from 2 months ago, 1 of which was mine. I'd say wait a week or 2 and the price from dell will drop an they will have the hd in stock to ship to you, or pay 90 and get the drive n 2 days.

what makes this dell deal good is that there are no "ifs"

Make sure the drive has a warranty specifically listed when you buy it. I bought a Seagate 80GB Dell OEM and I can't get Dell to do any warranty work. Seagate just directs me to the OEM supplier, Dell in this case. Unless you actually own a Dell system, getting through to their tech-support is damn near impossible. I even sent a detailed fax requesting RMA and Dell completely ignored it. Fortunately I am still able to use the drive in an external Firewire case, but I don't have a lot of faith in the reliability. IMHO, Dell sucks.

Ordered a drive from them a while back, then they emailed me it was OOS. Okay, fine. Not fine: sending me through phone hell for the privilege of cancelling the order.

yeah deathstar is a pain even when it works properly, I had a 60 gig that I would try to run at 150 fsb x 1/4th pci divisor, whenever I tried to access files on it at that fsb it would literally operate like it was a floppy drive, my whole computer would slow down to a crawl and the mouse would move choppy across the screen and it would take forever to copy small files. The drive went back to dell of course

I have one of these in my PC but when I got mine about 4 monthsago the price was 92.40 shipped so it has gone down a little..

Mine was a WD and so far I have had no trouble yet.
